I head up the way to Tashas house. I got a text from her saying to put on the new dress she got me, so I did that. Barely anyone in our group was in school today, and I got no texts from anyone. It all seems strange.
I reach her house and I head in the door. Its empty. I decide to walk up the stairs. When I'm up there, I open each door until my hand is on the handle of the door of the disco room from yesterday. I open it up and I walk inside. Theres faint music playing and the room is dark with disco lights lighting it up. There's a "15" balloon on the wall and a huge picture of me giving Tasha a piggyback outside a Costa, huge smiles plastered on our faces. It was taken the weekend after we got together by Hayley. I dont think she'll ever not be obsessed with the fact that we finally got together.
I hear a snicker and a whispered, "Shut up, Amelia!". I roll my eyes. They really think I dont know they're surprising me.
They all jump out from different places, shouting, "Surprise!", Hayley and Tasha from behind a speaker, Caoimhe and Amelia from behind a table with food and Anne and Gemma from behind a table with drinks. I smile at everyone.
"Aw, thanks, guys!" I look over at Anne, who's dressed in a white trouser suit with a sparkly shirt inside. "Lovely suit, Anne." She smiles at me.
Tasha comes over to me, dressed in a yellow flowery jumpsuit. She looks absolutely stunning. I don't think I've ever seen her looking more beautiful. A jumpsuit suits her so well.
"Happy birthday, Gabby." She wraps her arms around my waist and pulls me close, practically hugging me. I'm speechless right now, and all I can do is look at her. She pulls me closer, and she puts her lips on mine. I hear Caoimhe whoop and I give her the finger. Tasha smiles into the kiss, and I feel her tongue in my mouth. My heart starts pounding even more.
She pulls away and I stare at her. I can't believe she shifted me in front of all our friends. They've all seen us kiss before but not like that.
Her arms are still around my waist and she grins at me. She hugs me more and she rests her head on my shoulder. I smile and I wrap my arms around her back and I bury my head in her shoulder. Someone turns up the music. The song is a live version of Love of my Life by Queen. Wembley, '86.
We begin to sway slightly to the music, and I look over her shoulder to see Anne and Gemma doing the same, and Hayley recording us. Caoimhe and Amelia are just standing there watching us, smiling. They're the only 3 girls who aren't in a relationship.
After a while, we're all dancing and it's like an actual disco. The slow love song has transformed into pop and rock. After a song or two, Tasha takes my hand and brings me over to a table. There's glass bottles and red cups and a bottle of 7-Up and Club Orange. She smirks at me.
"Tash, what's all this?", I ask.
"I know I'm extremely anti alcohol and drugs, but one vodka/fizzy drink won't turn us into drunk little potheads." She begins pouring 7-Up into one cup and Club Ornage into another. She pours a bit of vodka into each and mixes them up. "Take your pick."
I smile at her and take the Club Orange. She takes the other cup and she raises it.
"To being 15." She smiles at me.
I do the same and smile. "To 15."
We clink our cups together and I take a sip. It's not as strong as I expected, maybe because its mixed with orange. I drink it another bit and I look over at Tasha.
"Have you done this before?", I ask.
"Never. I only looked up on how to do it and I'm pretty sure that makes me seem slightly less badass."
I laugh at her. "Tash, you've always been badass. You dont need vodka to prove that."
She smiles at me over her cup. "Thanks, Gabs."
"How did you get it anyways?"
She laughs. "My parents were supposed to have a party here tonight and they had bought stuff but I told them I wanted some friends over so theyre just staying at a friends house now. They really shouldn't have left this shit with their teenager."
I just smile at her. Not just because she looks the most beautiful she ever has, but also because I've just realised how happy she makes me, how much I love her and how excited I am for a future with her.
We're stuck staring at each other for a while, until Anne comes over to us.
"Happy birthday, Gabby.", she says before hugging me so tightly I almost drop the cup. I laugh slightly, even though I really appreciate it. We've only known each other a short while but I think I'd call her my best friend.
"Thanks, Anne with an E.", I say after she pulls away. She goes back over to Gemma and the girls and Tasha is smirking at me.
"What?", I ask.
"Check your pocket."
I put my hand into the pocket of my dress and I pull out €20. I roll my eyes and smile.
"Oh, that Anne O Brien."
She laughs at me as we finish off our drinks. We go back over to the girls after that.
After about an hour, I sit down with Tasha against the wall. She looks over at me.
"So, we're at the shifting stage now." I gulp. She smiles at me. "Its ok, I won't do it again if you dont want me to."
"No, I love it. I can't believe this time last year I thought you'd never see me that way, and look where we are today. I do think though that we should leave the...."thing" until we're a bit older."
"Yes, I definitely agree 1000%. I think we're ok now at the moment though, aren't we?"
I smile at her and take her hand. "We're more than ok."
She smiles and leans in to kiss me. I really can't believe how lucky I got with this girl.
