POV the Courier
Callum and Ezran were fast asleep, about an hour, after we rested Callum moved himself to lay opposite his brother, and the glow toad, I had a bandage around my eye and was not cleaning my hunting rifle.
Rayla was playing with the cloth binding on her arm, trying to cut it, she seemed to notice me looking. "Don't you need some sleep?" she asked.
"yay, but I struggle to, I have lived...an interesting life, seen a lot, some of it hunts me," I explained. "I only sleep when I need to,"
"you live in the human kingdoms, how confused can your life be?" Rayla was confused.
I shook my head. "I was born a long way away from here, another world, the worst time, and my memories only start a few years back the most, I got injured, and lost my memory,"
"You really aren't an average human," Rayla asked. "I guess they are the worst people for me to be stuck with,"
I shrugged. "I guess,"
"What's your name again?" Rayla asked.
"Courier 6, or just 6 if I like you," I answered.
"Sooooo," Rayla started. "You're a mail person?"
I stared at her and laughed. "Yeah, I guess that was how it all started," I rested my head back. "I'm going to finish cleaning my weapons," she nodded, and I got back to work.
POV the lone wanderer
we were clear of the fire but not the wasteland quite yet, Messa was now staying behind me. "all the stories, the history, is it bad I'm scared?" she asked.
"no, not at all, When I was 19 I had to leave my home, I was thrust into a world I'd only heard stories about, I was alone and scared, but you have me with you, I won't you go through it on your own," I smiled. "And if they do try to hurt you, I will put my power armour on and show them why you should always be nice to strangers,"
Messa Smiled. "Thanks, Wanderer," She said.
"No problem Mes, now I have an idea, if I cannibalise some spear parts, and hook it up to my pipboy, it should give me a radiation detector, that can show us where Six is," I explained holding some tech in my hand.
"Right...What does any of that mean?" Messa asked.
POV the Courier
Callum was leaning in the tree, he was somewhere between daydreaming and deep thought.
Rayla wanted his attention. "Callum," she started calmly. "Callum HEY!" she yelled this time making the young prince jump slightly.
I turned away from them and checked the ammo in my revolver, I was liable to reload and check each bullet in my revolver, I didn't want to get caught out in a gunfight, not that many of those will happen here but habits are hard to break.
I looked up to see Rayla and Callum arguing, I blinked twice. "What on god's radioactive earth are you two arguing about?"
"Callum wants to go the banther Lodge, what's a dumb idea," Rayla said walking away from him.
I shrugged at her. "can't see why we can't stop by, won't be the first time I've diverted on a quest,"
"But what about the humans there!" Rayla pointed out.
"It's the Winter Lodge," Callum said with a wave of his hand. "It's been empty for months, trust me" Callum stopped and took a breath suddenly seeming sad. "look Rayla," Callum continued. "Princes are supposed to be good at things, sword fighting, leadership, riding horses." he stopped listening for a moment.
