Chapter 13

Wala si Atticus sa bahay nila ng buong weekend na iyon. Hindi ito umuwi at magse-stay daw muna sa isang condo nito na malapit sa opisina. But Celine knew the reason why ayaw nitong umuwi. It was because of her...

Marahil ay galit pa rin ito ng madatnan siya sa party na hindi niya ipinagpaalam dito. And kissing a guy as well!

He's her guardian after all...

But despite that, galit pa rin siya kay Atticus dahil pakiramdam niya ay binastos nito ang Mama niya dahil sa mga sinabi nito sa kanya. He could have just been mad at her at matatanggap niya iyon. Pero iyong idamay ay Mama niya sa mga iyon? That's just plain cruel.

It was a Monday again at may pagkakataon na siyang makausap sina Alden at Michelle. Cannot be reached kasi ang mga ito sa telepono kaya hindi niya matanong at makausap kung anong nangyari sa party last Friday night.

She was walking in the hallway to her first class ng makasalubong si Michelle. Nag-iwas ito ng tingin sa kanya at nilampasan siya. "Michelle!" she called out and walked after her.

Nagmadali lalo ang dalaga.

"Michelle!" she called out at hinawakan ito sa braso to stop her.

Michelle turned around and looked at her, stoically. "Anong kailangan mo sa'kin?"

"Bakit mo ko iniiwasan?" she asked. "May nagawa ba ako?"

Umiling ito. "Wala naman. I just have to head to my next class." She motioned on her Trigonometry book.

"G-gusto ko lang sanang tanungin kung anong nangyari pa sa party last Friday. Hindi ko kasi maalala lahat dahil nalasing din ako. I didn't even kno w na sinundo pala ako ni Atticus," she said.

"I have to go, Celine. Sorry!" mabilis na paalam nito.

But Celine was quick to pull her arm. "Michelle, ano ba! What happened?" She has a feeling na iniiwasan talaga siya nito ngayon.

Michelle breathed deeply. "I'm sorry, Celine, if hindi mo maalala. But you and Alden.. had sex. And when you were done, nahuli kayo ni Atticus in his room nang susunduin ka na sana niya. Hindi ka raw kasi sumasagot sa mga tawag niya."

Had sex... Iyon lamang ang nagregister sa utak niya ng mga oras na iyon. Atticus mentioned that it was just a kiss. Paanong nangyaring sex pala iyon?

Michelle walked away quickly after revealing that to her. And she was left standing near the lockers at napahawak siya doon.

"It can't be..." she whispered to herself. Hindi niya alam kung alam ni Atticus iyon. But she thinks na nahuli lamang sila ng tapos na nilang gawin iyon. So he probably didn't know... He just mentioned that it was a kiss.

She didn't know what to do after so she decided to just go home. She needed a bath. Pakiramdam niya ay napakarumi niyang babae ngayon. She trusted Alden pero hindi niya alam kung paano nito nagawa sa kanya ang bagay na iyon. No wonder he wasn't answering her calls.

It was almost 10PM. Gabing-gabi ng nakauwi si Atticus because he dropped by the office after his classes. Pagkadating niya sa bahay ay itinanong niya kaagad kung nasaan si Celine. She knew he'll be mad at her dahil sinadya niyang hindi umuwi ng ilang araw sa bahay para magpalamig ng ulo.

Nahuli niya itong hinahalikan ng kaibigan nitong si Alden in a party last Friday night. But those three days away from her made him realize na lasing ito and she probably didn't know what she was doing.

He should be mad at that fucking dude who kissed her! Nasuntok na naman niya ito ng gabing iyon and he has threatened to kill him if he goes anywhere near her again. He'll really kill him just in case.

"Nako, Atticus! Ewan ko ba sa batang iyon. Bumalik dito kanina at hindi na daw siya papasok. May sakit yata peron hindi kumakain," kwento ni Manang Celia.

"What?" he muttered. Ibinaba niya ang briefcase sa couch at dali-daling humakbang papataas ng second floor papunta sa kwarto nito.

He knocked on her door.

"I'm not hungry, Manang," squeaked a voice from the inside.

He didn't wait for anymore permission and entered her room. Nakatalikod ito mula sa pinto at nakahiga sa kama. She must be preparing to sleep already.

"Celine," he called her and closed the door.

Dali-daling napabangon si Celine ng marining siya. "A-Atticus..."

"I'm so sorry, babe. I'm so sorry," he said and sat beside her on the bed. "May sakit ka ba?" Kinapa nito ang noo ng dalaga to check on her temperature.

And all of a sudden, she just burst into tears.

"Celine? W-Why? I'm sorry... I'm sorry. I won't do this again. I promise." He hugged her but she kept on pushing him back. "Hush, baby. I'm here now. I'm sorry..."

Celine sat up as soon as she heard his voice. He's here! Her mind was in chaos. Hindi niya alam kung paano ito haharapin. She felt like she has betrayed him at walang kapatawaran ang ginawa niya. She can't look at him now.

"I'm so sorry, babe. I'm so sorry. May sakit ka ba?" tanong nito as he sat beside her on the bed. Kinapa pa nito ang noo niya.

He was saying 'sorry' to her. Kahit na siya talaga ang may kasalanan dito. Will he be able to forgive her kapag nalaman nito ang totoo? May mukha pa kaya siyang maihaharap dito? And more importantly, will he want her again? Parang hindi niya alam kung anong gagawin kung itatakwil na siya nito...

And with that, she burst into tears. She saw how his face turned into confusion sa biglaang paghagulhol niya.

"Celine? W-Why? I'm sorry... I'm sorry. I won't do this again. I promise." And he hugged her.

But she felt like she wan't worthy of any of this... and of him. Itinulak niya ito. But he didn't stop hugging her.

"Hush, baby. I'm here now. I'm sorry..." At mas hinigpitan nito ang yakap sa kanya.

She stopped resisting and just cried in his arms. She can't lose him... Not just because he's her guardian at ito ang nangangasiwa ngayon sa mga manang natanggap niya. Those can all go to hell! She's worried she might lose him... Hindi niya siguro kakayanin iyon.

"I'm s-sorry," she squeaked out in between sobbing. "I'm r-rreally.. sorry, Atticus."

"You're forgiven, babe. Stop crying. I don't like to see you crying," he said, while looking directly into her eyes.

"I-I don't deserve you...," she whispered.

Umiling ito. "No, stop it, Celine. Don't say that." He kissed the top of her head. "Stop crying, babe."

Tumango siya pero hindi pa rin niya mapigilan ang mga luhang pumapatak sa mga mata niya. Hindi niya alam kung may lakas pa siya ng loob na sabihin kay Atticus ang totoong nangyari ng gabing iyon.

He kissed her on her right cheek to remove her tears. And then on her lips to hush her. It was kind, caring and reassuring. And from there, she decided not to tell him about what happened ever. Hindi niya alam kung matatanggap pa siya nito pagkatapos.

So instead of telling him the truth, she hushed herself and kissed him back. She answered his kisses fearlessly and intensely, with longing. She pushed her little secret at the back of her mind. He will never have to know...

Hinding-hindi na rin niya lalapitan pa si Alden ever. She'll only be his from now on...
