Chapter 27

That night, hindi umuwi ng condo si Atticus. He wasn't answering even her calls. Hindi na niya alam kung anong gagawin. Was the past repeating itself all over again?

She woke up with tears in her eyes. Hindi niya alam kung anong oras na siya nakatulog. The sun was already high up at sobrang liwanag na ng kwarto niya ng magising siya. She checked her phone pero wala pa rin doon na tawag mula kay Atticus o isang text man lamang.

10:00 AM, her phone says. Nagulat siya dahil hindi naman kasi siya nagigising ng ganoon ka-late before. She's a morning person and an early riser. 6AM is her usual wake-up time. But she dismissed the thought, thinking that she might be tired from all the crying from last night.

But as soon as she stood up, nahilo kagad siya so she ran to the bathroom dahil nasusuka siya sa pagkakatayo. After throwing up, tinitigan niya ang sarili sa salamin.

"It can't be," she whispered to herself. "No, no no..."

She quickly went out of the room to find a bodyguard inside standing by the door.

"What are you doing here?"

"Ipinagbilin po ni Sir Atticus na bawal kayong lumabas dito."

Nagsalubong ang mga kilay niya. "What? Who is he to say that? And where is he?"

"Hindi po namin alam."

Tumango tango siya. "Fine, then dalhin mo ko sa bahay ni Amelia."

"Pinagbawa-"

She cut him off, "Ihahatid mo ba ako doon o tatawag ako ng ibang taong pwedeng maghatid sakin? Choose.!"

She has to see Amelia and end this now! She has a strong feeling na ito ang may pakana ng mga maling ibinibintang sa kanya.

Celine arrived in a posh building within a buzzling business district. So this is the devil's lair?

"Just stay here in the parking area," utos niya sa driver and bodyguard niya.

Dali-dali siyang humanap ng elevator papunta sa floor ng condo ni Amelia.

Going up, she breathed deeply. Kailangan niyang makausap ito at mapaamin sa maling ginawa nito. If Atticus won't believe her, Amelia has to say the truth.

And afterwards, she needs to buy a pregnancy test and confirm if she's carrying Atticus' child.

When she reached Amelia's door, she pressed the doorbell button. Isang matandang babae ang nagbukas ng pinto, a maid.

"Hello, I'm looking for Amelia," she bravely said.

"Ah, okay po, pasok po kayo." The maid guided her to the sitting area. The room was immensely luxurious. Malamang isa ito sa mga nakuha niya sa alimony niya from Leo. This woman is really a gold-digger.

Naupo siya sa puting couch na naroon at nagulat ng makita sa Amelia na papalabas ng dining hall. Amelia was equally shocked as her.

"I didn't expect to see you here," malamig na bati nito sa kanya. "Bakit? Pinalayas ka na ba ng anak ko?"

"Bawiin mo ang mga pinadala mo sa kanyang photos. We both know that I didn't have sex with Dimitri!" sigaw niya.

"Wow, up until now, you're still in denial, hija," she said and sat across her on another white couch.

"I don't need to deny anything dahil wala akong ginawa sa mga ibinibintang mo sakin!"

She laughed. "Alam mo, Celine, I admire your spirit. But it's such a bad thing na anak ka ni Andrea, ang babaeng umagaw sakin kay Leo! I've pledged to make your life a living hell when Andrea died a few years ago." At tumawa ito ng nakakaloka.

"We both know na hindi mo minahal si Leo. You were prancing around the world with your friends at the height of your modelling career and we know you've had extramarital affairs then! Ikaw ang nang-iwan kay Tito Leo and he just happened to meet my mom!" she defended.

"What a lie you tell yourself," bulong nito, now mad at her for bringing up the past. Celine is pretty sure she's speaking the truth dahil nanggaling iyon kay Manang Celia.

"Alam natin na totoo ang mga sinabi ko," pilit niya. "Now, bawiin mo ang mga sinabi mo kay Atticus kung ayaw mong malaman ng anak mo ang totoo mong pagkatao!"

"Threatening me now, ha?" She stood up to open the sitting area's curtains. Tanaw na tanaw roon ang mga buildings na katabi nila from the floor to ceiling window. "Did you ever wonder what I do to people who threaten me?"

She noticed how Amelia's face changed drastically. She looked scarier now.

"Your mother threatened me as well. Kaya I had no choice but... to kill her," she whispered and smiled.

Her eyes grew big sa ipinagtapat na iyon sa kanya ni Amelia. "You're crazy," bulong niya. Hindi makapaniwala sa mga naririnig niya ngayon.

"It's a sad thing na nadamay si Leo sa pagkamatay ni Andrea. Well what can I do, he's done me a grave sin as well so he deserves it," she said and looked out the window.

Nagsimula ng mag-panic ang utak ni Celine. She looked around to see kung may iba silang kasamang tao ngayon.

"I sent my maids to fetch us some food, hija, if hinahanap mo sila," balita nito at ngumiti ng nakakatakot.

"I-I have to go," she said and stood up.

Pero mabilis siyang nahawakan ni Amelia sa mga braso. "Not so fast, my dear!"

"Bitawan mo ko! You're a lunatic!" sigaw niya. And tried to push off the woman.

But Amelia's hold on her was too strong. "Pagbabayaran mo ang lahat ng mga inagaw sakin ng Mama mo!" And Amelia pushed her hard on the window.

Her head and back hit the glass at halos mawalan siya ng malay sa sakit na naramdaman but she tried to remain awake. She has to ask for help. And when she touched the back of her head, she saw blood in her hands.

"No," she whispered to herself. Her voice was hoarse in pain.

"Celine!" she heard a baritone voice scream but her eyes were already closing. "Celine!" Nakalapit na ngayon ang boses na iyon sa kanya. "Let's rush her to the hospital! Quick!"

She felt someone carry her and some feet shuffling. Bago siya mawalan ng malay ay nakita niyang hawak ng tatlong bodyguards ni Atticus si Amelia while the woman was struggling and kicking.

"My baby..." she said before closing her eyes and losing consciousness.
