She just came from school. But despite the awkwardness, Celine tried her best to welcome the strangers.

One was a tall man, probably in his early forties. Sabi ng mama niya, ito daw si Leo Alcaraz, a businessman from Manila. Ang kasama naman nitong lalaki na marahil ay eighteen years old ay si Atticus, ang nag-iisang anak daw nito.

She still didn't know why they were eating dinner with her and her mother.

Celine stole a glance at the boy named Atticus again.

Atticus stood up from the dining table.

He's a bit... hard to warm up to new people," paumanhin ni Leo.

First place."

"Wow," Leo exclaimed. "That's great!

She stood up at lumabas ng dining room. Then, she went up sa second floor papuntang kwarto niya para kunin ang trophy niya. Her room is small. It's just good enough to fit her single bed, her white dresser, a big closet and a small study table with a lamp beside her bed. It's painted pink and white.

Kukunin niya ang trophy sa ibabaw ng study table when she heard a cough near the door.

She turned around to see Atticus.

"Nice, pink room," he commented, with a smirk on his face. Then he roamed his eyes around the room.

"Thank you," she said and grabbed the trophy on her study table.

"That was a sarcastic comment," biglang wika ng binata. He was leaning on her door, blocking the way.

"W-What do you mean?"

"This room looks like Barbie puke," he declared and smiled, while crossing his arms in front of his chest.

Nagulat siya sa pang-iinsulto nito. "I don't care about your opinion."

"What's that?" he asked looking at the trophy she was holding. He stepped forward towards her.

While she stepped back, clutching on the trophy all the more.

"You won? Where? Let me see." And he tried to grab the trophy from her.

She resisted and held on for as long as she can. But he was stronger.

But he was quicker and stronger at nakuha ng binata ang trophy na hawak niya. He raised it up so she couldn't reach for it. "Wow, you're a Math Quiz Bee champion."

"Akin na 'yan." She tried tiptoeing to reach up for it. But his arms were raised so high up and he was tall for his age.

"You're too petite to reach for this, you silly girl."

But she kept on reaching up for it. And when she realized she won't get it from him by jumping, she climbed up his body by latching onto his neck and shoulders.

"Hey, what are you doing?" he screamed and pushed her on the bed.

"Give me back my trophy," she screamed back at him.

"You know, it's a shame. You're pretty pero para kang bata."

Lalo siyang nagalit sa sinabi nito kaya tumayo siya mula sa kama to lunge at him. But he was quick to push her back to bed but they both got out of balance so he fell on top of her. Good thing the trophy fell on her pillow.

"Aray!" she screamed in pain when his body landed on top of hers.

"What's happening here?" gulat na tanong ni Leo. Halatang gulat na gulat ito sa nadatnan. "Atticus?"

Katabi ni Leo ang mama niya. Halatang nagulat din sa nakita.

"Ugh, great," Atticus groaned. He slowly got up using his elbow. "It's this annoying brat's fault!"

"Ayos ka lang ba, hija?" Leo asked as she tried to sit up.

"Atticus tried to get my trophy," sumbong niya.

"Petty, little pest," he exclaimed.

"Atticus!" saway ng ama niya. "Is that how I taught you to behave? We are in your Tita Andrea's house. Have some respect."

He remained silent but his eyes were still shooting daggers towards her direction.

She stuck out her tongue to him in annoyance.

"Celine," saway ng mama niya sa kanya.

"Atticus, Celine, we are getting married," anunsyo ni Leo.

They both looked shocked sa biglaang sinabi nito. Well, Celine has a hint that this man has feelings for her mom.

"What? Are you kidding me?" tanong ni Atticus, in  pure disbelief.

"Yes, it's true," sagot ni Leo. "Andrea will be your new mother, Atticus. And Celine is going to be your little sister. So I am expecting you to respect both of them. Whatever happens."

His jaw fell in disbelief all the more. But instead of responding, he walked out of the room and left all of them.

Celine was still sitting down on her bed, unsure of what to do. But since Atticus had made everything worse, she tried her best to lighten up the situation. "C-Congratulations, Mama... and Tito Leo."

And her mother's face instantly lighted up. She opened her arms to hug her. "Anak, you don't know how much this means to me... Maraming salamat, anak."

She hugged her mother back tightly despite her hesitations. She'll figure out the rest of her feelings about this matter along the way.
