Chapter 19

"Good morning, sexy," bati ni Atticus sa kanya as he was drinking coffee on her bar area. Naka-boxer shorts lamang ito habang matamang nakatingin sa kanya.

She looked at herself and realized that she was just in her panties! Nakalimutan niyang may kasama nga pala siya sa condo! She automatically covered her breasts and pointed to him. "You! A-Anong ginagawa mo pa dito? I thought you left last night..."

Umiling ito. "I just prepared breakfast. Nagising akong maaga kanina." He was pointing to her dining table at nakita niya roon ang mga niluto nito. "Eat. Mukhang hindi ka kumakain ng maayos. You're getting thin... but still hot, by the way." Nakangisi ito habang nakatingin sa kabuuan niya.

She moved to the dining area which contained a lot of paintings. Hindi naman kasi siya masyadong kumakain doon. Here dining area was just for display or for dinner parties. But never for breakfast. Since mag-isa lamang siya the past years at mag-isang kumakain, sa bar area or sa kwarto lang siya kumakain.

He pulled out a chair for her and motioned for her to sit. "Come, I'm hungry."

She just stared hard at him. "Magpasalamat kang nagugutom na ako. Kung hindi, pinalayas na kita kaagad dito. I'll just get dressed," sagot niya at tinalikuran na ito.

"Even your back and butt looks so fucking hot," kumento nito.

"Bastos!" sigaw niya at tumakbo na papuntang kwarto.

Now wearing a white, oversized shirt and lounge shorts, umupo siya at sinaluhan sa hapag si Atticus. "How dare you meddle in my kitchen," kumento niya.

"Can't you just thank me? I woke up in such a good mood, I just had to make breakfast!" magiliw na kwento nito while eating.

"So when will you leave?" mataray na tanong niya. Hindi siya pwedeng makalimot o madala ng emosyon niya.

"I plan on staying here."

Nagulat siya sa pahayag nito. She stopped eating and stared hard at him. "What?"

"This condo is mine, Celine, kung nakakalimutan mo. So I'll stay here when I want to and I want to stay here while I'm in the Philippines."

Umiling siya. "No, you have a big mansion and you can stay there. Huwag mong isiksik ang sarili mo dito. This place is too small for the both of us."

Nagdilim ang mukha ni Atticus sa pagtutol niya. "You might be forgetting that I still am your guardian at hawak ko pa rin ang lahat ng pera mo."

"It will be mine in two weeks," sagot niya.

He briefly smiled. "A lot can happen in two weeks, my dear. I can just decide that I want your inheritance after all. Or plead to court that you don't have the capacity to manage your own money yet."

"Anong binabalak mo?" galit na asik nito sa binata.

"All I'm saying, babe, is that you're still under my mercy for the remaining weeks. So I suggest that you better be kind to me."

Her eyes narrowed as she examined him. "Are you blackmailing me, Atticus Alcaraz?"

He winked at her and smiled. "Am I?"

"This is my home. I don't care if you own this or whatever. I can throw anyone out anytime I want."

He laughed. "This whole building is mine. You can't just throw me out."

"W-What?" gulat na gulat na tanong niya. "What do you mean?"

"Wala ka talagang pakialam sa kumpanya, no? We invested and moved into real estate already two years ago. I bought the developer of this condo so we now own all the developments under that real estate company."

"Oh," she exclaimed. "I didn't know..."

"That's why hindi ko lubos maisip kung bakit basta-basta mo na lamang itatapon ang shares mo when you can grow it even more."

"Why do you care so much with my future?" inis na tanong niya. "You already forgot me five years ago, hindi ba?"

"I don't want you to move in Paris. That's too far away," mabilis na sagot nito ng hindi man lamang nag-iisip.

"Ayaw mo non? You don't have to see me." She proceeded to eating again.

His eyes blazed with fire sa biglang sagot nito. "I'll stay here as long as I want. This is my house at wala ka ng magagawa doon."

"Fine, stay here. I'll move to Ashley's," she announced while getting some more bacon.

"No!" he firmly said and caught her arm. Mukhang galit na galit na ito ngayon. Gone was his humorous demeanor a while ago. "Hindi ka aalis dito. I'll cut off your credit cards and allowance starting today. Hindi ka makakaalis o makakalabas dito ng hindi kasama ako o ang driver."

She looked at him in shock. "You can't do that," she said, alarmed. "Atticus please."

"Watch me."

"Get me out of here! Mababaliw na ako at apat na oras pa lang ang nakakaraan!" mungkahi niya sa kaibigan sa kabilang linya. Celine was in her room habang kausap sa phone si Ashley, asking for help.

"Bakit ba kasi ginalit mo yung stepbrother mo? Ayan tuloy napala mo. Ano ba kasing sinabi mo?"

"Nalaman niya na balak kong mag-Paris and he's against every bit of it! He wants me to train in Singapore to become like him, a robot!" sigaw niya.

Natawa lamang ang kaibigan sa kabilang linya.

"This is not a funny situation, Ashley. I don't have money or anything at all! He cut off all my cards!"

"Wait for two weeks na lang, Celine. You'll be turning twenty-one by then. Just endure it! After this, we can leave the country for good and study abroad. Konting tiis lang, bes," Ashley assured her.

She's right! She tried to breathe deeply. "Two weeks. Fine! I'll endure him for the next two weeks."

"Or maybe..." makahulugang wika ni Ashley.

"Maybe what?" she heard the front door of her condo open. Her evil stepbrother is here!

"Maybe you can seduce him and then, you can escape. Manipulate him into doing everything you want. Maganda ka naman and sabi mo hindi kayo close. Maybe now's the time to be chummy-chummy with him," suhestyon ni Ashley.

God, Ashley! Only if you know what happened last night, her mind whispered in dismay. Hindi pa siya handang ipagtapat ang totoo sa kaibigan. That Atticus was more than just a stepbrother; he was her former lover!
