Eyes For You // Payton Moormeier

Chapter Three

As I look into my new homeroom class I see this boy. He has that adorable pineapple hair cut that I love with, brown hair, big brown eyes, and he is probably one of the cutest guys I have ever seen. I think I'm in love... Gosh! I say to my self what kind of water do they have here. I'll take some of it! I chuckle to myself.

"Umm guys."

"Yeah?" Jeremy and Jackson say in unison.

"Who is he?" I ask.

"Oh him. That's Payton he's my bestfriend. No offense Jeremy."

"None taken, you have known him way longer than me."

As all of us walk into the classroom everyone is staring at Luca and I. Trying to the avoid the stares I see Payton looking at me. I look over at him and it's like I'm in a trance. I heard a noise that snapped me back into reality, forcing me to peel my eyes off him. Phew any longer and everyone would have thought I was a weirdo. I looked around again and saw these group of girls. Oh no they definitely noticed and they looked like they wanted to beat the crap out of me. Obviously Payton was off limits in their minds. I hear laughs from the other side of the room, noticing there are two other girls giggling and staring at another good looking boy. I see these three laughing at something on their phones.

"Hey Kaylee!" Jackson yells.

"Wanna sit with me and Payton?"

"Sure why not?" I say, as I slowly make my way over to them.

"Okay Payton, this is Kaylee and she is the new kid and over there well that's her brother Luca."

I look over and Luca waves at Payton while he is talking to Jeremy.

"I'm gonna go get Chase, I'll be back in sec!"

I turned and faced Payton terrified that he could read my mind, when he says "Hi." OMG he is so hot!

"Hey... I'm just going to apologise upfront. I'm kind of awkward when I meet new people".

"Hey it's fine. Its hard being the new kid in school. I get shy when I meet new people too."

"Really?" Payton looks at me and smiles. OMG his smile. I went between melting and bursting.

"Well I heard that you have been friends with Jackson for awhile."

"Oh yeah, I have known him for a long time. Our parents are bestfriends so we moved here with them."

"Wow, that's crazy."

"Yeah, I couldn't believe it either."

"Kaylee this is Chase, he's another one of my friends." Jackson says completely interrupting us.

"Hey, Chase."

"Hi, what's up?"

"Nothing much, just meeting Payton."

"Come on Chase, you have to meet Luca!" He says while pulling Chase by the arm.

Chase apologizes for literally being pulled away and I just laughed saying, "It's alright, see ya later I guess. Well Jackson seems really nice." I say looking back at Payton.

"Yeah he is, unless you are on his bad side." He looks down at his desk with a weird look on his face, a look that made me think maybe he had been on Jacksons bad side before.

Oh no back to reality, the teacher comes in, claps his hands and says, "Alrighty everyone get in your seats."

I sit with Payton on my left, Jackson my right, and Luca in front of me. I look at the teacher and he writes his name on the board.

"My name is Mr. Miller. I will be your substitute today!"

"For those of you that don't know, we have two new kids in our class. If you don't mind could you two come up here and introduce yourselves?"

Luca and I shared a quick glance. You know the one, like you are about to die of embarrassment. Thank god we have each other, so we get up and walk to the front of the room.

"Okay you two, what are your names?"

"Well, my name is Luca. I came from Canada."

"My name is Kaylee, and he's my brother... So obviously I'm from Canada too." I say laughing.

"Is there anything else you would like to say?"

"Nope."

"Umm, well I hope I can make new friends with all of you!" I say in a sincere tone.

"Okay, you two can sit back down now."

As I walk back to my seat I see those same girls from before chuckling at me with a mean look in their eyes. I know that I won't become friends with them. I should avoid them as much as possible. I sit back down, looking a little bothered by the fact they were laughing at me.

Payton looks over at me and pokes my shoulder. "Hey, you don't look good?"

"I"m just a little nervous that's all."

"Oh, I see."

"It's just some stuff from my past..." I say while looking down. Mr.Miller then pipes up, "Payton, Kaylee, is there something that you two would like to tell the class?"

Of course the mean girls pipe up, "Yeahhh Kaylee, tell us what your talking about." Laughing behind their scribblers like no one could see.

Payton quickly glanced over at them, giving them a look and then said "How about you leave her alone."

"Okay Payton, go protect your new girlfriend!"

"Enough class, everyone be quiet!" The teacher yells. All of a sudden the room is silent.

I look over at Payton and whisper "Thank you."

He looked away from me but he was still smiling. Trying to not let the mean girl click bother me I just tried to ignore them. Jackson made it real easy as he was teasing me about how dumb we both were because we couldn't solve some of the questions Mr. Miller gave us. Payton joined in and we were all laughing and joking. Some of the science questions were really difficult but Payton took the time to explain them to me. Payton is great at science.

"When does this class end?" Luca sighs.

Jackson laughs "Um, in like 10 minutes... then we have lunch."

"That's ten minutes too loooong!"

"Hey Kaylee!" I turn my head to see Chase waving at me.

"What up, Chase?"

"I was wondering if you would wanna meet some of my girl friends? At lunch."

"Ummm... sure." I say nervously.

"Don't be nervous they're nice. But warning, they are really crazy!"

"Okay." I say while chuckling.

"Oh and by the way, you can call me Huddy if you want."

"I will probably end up calling you both."

Chase smiles and turns around in his chair.

Bing! Bing! Bing!

"It's finally time for lunch!" Luca screams, and everyone in the whole class looks at him.

"Sorry." He says looking at me laughing.
