"Why do we have to do this? Is the school short on manpower?"Haru looked like he wanted to whine, but at the same time he seemed pleased that we were assigned together. Anyway, the school will be hosting an acquaintance party for the graduating students tomorrow, and it seems like they're currently in a rush. They required the lower year levels to help with the preparation, which is why we're busy carrying some stuff right now.
"Seems like it." I answered as we walked side by side in the hallway. On the way to the gym, one of his teammates from the basketball team approached us. Looks like the teams needs Haru right now.
Tumanggi naman siyang sumama.
"Dude, my girlfriend can't possibly carry these boxes alone!"
I waved my hand dismissively. "I don't mind. Do you need him? You can borrow him. Basta ibalik niyo sa akin, ha?" sabi ko sa lalaki.
Haru sniffed. "But I want to be lovey-dovey with you!"
"They need your help, Haru." Napangiwi ako dahil mukhang masama talaga ang loob niya. "We can be lovey-dovey later."
His teammate gave me a salute before taking my boyfriend with him. I laughingly watched Haru as he dramatically waved his farewell while getting dragged away from me.
I was just about to resume walking when somebody took the boxes from me. "Really, what kind of man makes a girl carry heavy stuff like this?" I blinked twice upon seeing Hana. "Good morning, Lucy."
"Hey." I greeted him back. "Shouldn't you be at home?"
The seniors have no classes today since the school administration wants to surprise them with the venue. Aside from that, today will serve as their time to prepare for tomorrow's party. I wonder why Hana is here.
He wrinkled his nose. "I have nothing better to do, anyway."
My fellow classmates told me that it was my turn to take a break, so I had free time. Sumama naman sa akin si Hana.
"What are you going to do tomorrow, Lucy?"
"Well, our class was assigned to guard the fifth floor. You know, to ensure that no one runs off to have sex or something." sagot ko na ikinatawa naman ni Hana. "I was tasked to watch over the room at the farthest side of the wing. Si Haru naman, sa ibang kwarto siya."
Napabuga naman ng hangin si Hana. "Sa totoo lang, kung hindi lang requirement ang attendance, hindi naman ako sisipot." He shook his head in dismay. "Anong gagawin ko bukas? It would've been nice if you're with me, but you're not even an attendee."
I chuckled. "You're so dull, Hana. Makipagkaibigan ka nga sa iba."
"Ha?" He made a mocking face. "I don't want to hear that from the person whose only friend is me." We both laughed at his rebuttal.
It seems like the basketball team isn't done working yet. I smiled upon seeing my boyfriend helping out.
"Thank you, Lucy."
Napalingon ako kay Hana.
"What are you thanking me for?" pagtataka ko.
"I told you, right? Haru isn't good in understanding people, but it seems like he improved his social aspects ever since he started dating you." Nakangiti niyang tinanaw ang kanyang kapatid.
