Flash Forward - Location: Angelgard.
Angelgard, a sacred island, prison to Ardyn, or as the people of Eos know him as: Adagium. A man cursed with the scourge that came to be a result of absorbing the daemons who ailed the people of his kingdom. For 2000 years he was imprisoned here..alone, cold, chained, hooks piercing his body and his blood dripping from now infected wounds. the only sounds to be heard were his laboured breathing and moans of pain until those of The Imperial Army stormed the island and found him.
Verstael Besithia, the Imperial scientist, entered with the troops, amazed at his discovery within the ruins.
"He's alive." He gave a laugh as he continued, "it's just as the ancient texts told."
"Who..?" Ardyn painfully asked as he looked to the man who would come to be his saviour from this prison.
"Take him away!" Verstael ordered, without hesitation the troops released Ardyn and carried him out of the ruins, Ardyn unable to walk on his own.
They then proceeded to carry him to their ship.
"Don't..Touch me." Ardyn groaned.
"Status report: everything is fine here." A Trooper contacted the squad sent to collect Ardyn.
"Roger that, we'll transport the subject to your location."
"And we'll have the medical team ready as planned."
"What's the situation over there?" A Trooper asked, curious why there was no resistance.
"Nothing to report. We're ju--!" The Trooper on the other line was cut off as they finished with a groan of pain, like they had just been killed.
Suddenly, an assault on the rest of the Troopers came from nowhere, causing them to all perish and drop the man they called Adagium. Ardyn then got to his feet as Royal Guards came to try and imprison him again, but they stood no chance. Ardyn's power was too great for them to even try.
"Adagium Sighted!" One of the Guards spoke as they engaged him in battle.
They all kept coming, wave after wave, Glaive after Glaive, all of them meeting the same fate as the other, and they were desperate to contain him. When the final glaive fell, Ardyn pinned him to the ground and unintentionally daemonified him.
"For what sins must I atone?!" He yelled as he then looked up to the sky with a scream. He was seeing memories of his victim..how though he was unsure. "These memories are not my own...could they be..his?" Ardyn then looked to his hands in disbelief, panicked. "I didn't purge him of the scourge; I bestowed it upon him..I do not understand.."
Nobody could answer his confused cries however, nor have the chance to. Verstael walked over to him with a grin. "Incredible, his power is unbelievable!" Verstael then began to laugh as Ardyn collapsed completely, his energies Exhausted. "Hey!" He yelled in slight concern.
Flashback - Location: Field Clearing
Ardyn looked around the field, looking for his beloved who stood by the tree, waiting for him.
"Aera!" He cried as he ran towards her.
Aera said nothing as she looked to his brother who approached them, weapon drawn and in hand.
"Somnus!" Ardyn gasped.
Somnus's eyes were glazed over slightly, his mind not in the right place. His face showed nothing but anger and resentment for the scourge.
"Somnus, hear me. Naomi wouldn't want this." Ardyn desperately tried to reason with his younger brother.
Naomi was friends with all 3 of them: Somnus, Aera and Ardyn. She was a caring and loving soul, always willing to give a chance to those who deserved it. While Somnus and Naomi grew closer with time, to the point of a relationship blossoming between them and Ardyn and Aera were always willing to support them, no matter their choices, Naomi perished shortly after giving birth to a young boy she called: Daichi. Her parents were infected with the scourge, and after the birth of her son and she had recovered from the pain and feeling returning to the bottom half of her body, had turned into daemons. She instructed her beloved and best friends to remain in the palace as she took care of them outside.
