Chapter 12: The Vessel

Later that night, the rain hit the city of Insomnia hard and Nyx was at in his apartment, getting Crowe's personal effects ready as Ashley ran inside.

"Holy shit! Damn rain!" She cursed as she shut the door behind her.

"The weather slowed you down?" Nyx smiled as he walked over to greet her, kissing her lips with affection and Ashley returned said affection.

"Yeah. Nothing I can't handle though." She smiled lovingly as he tucked some of her hair behind her ear. "Come on, lets get this out of the way." she smiled, taking off her coat and hanging it to dry.

"Might be best." Nyx agreed.

They proceeded to go through Crowe's belongings which consisted of her mobile phone with a small charm on the end that Ashley gave her for her birthday, a tracking watch which the two glaives I didn't really give too much thought into, a photo of them all, a hairpin for Lunafreya and a crystal necklace that was meant to be given to Phoebe.

The necklace and hairpin caught Ashley's attention. "These..were meant to be gifts for the princesses."

"I remember he packing these before she left."

Flashback

Crowe activated her watch as she checked on the necklace and hair pin.

"A hair pin and necklace? I didn't think you were into those kind of things." Nyx teased as he held his girlfriend close, causing all of them to laugh a bit.

"It's not for her Nyx." Ashely shut down his comment.

"She's right, they're gifts for the princesses, but keep that quiet, nobody is suppose to know." Crowe smiled but then heard the van honk it's horn and start the engine. "Well, that's me."

"Watch your back out there." Nyx reminded her.

"I know your sick of hearing it but you're--" Libertus went to speak but was cut off.

"Like a little sister to you. Yeah, I am sick of hearing it." Crowe smiled as she got into the back of the van.

"Just come back in one piece alright?" Libertus smiled.

"Says the guy in two pieces." she teased before closing the doors.

Present Time.

"We should finish what she started." Ashley suggested. "The party is tomorrow night so we'll more than likely see the princesses there."

"Agreed. At least then Crowe can rest in peace."

On the eve of the signing ceremony, the Emperor of Niflheim ascended the staircase as Ashley and Nyx took guard duty.

"A most grand reception king Regis! You honour all of Niflheim." The emperor: Iedolas Aldercapt greeted King Regis as he walked over.

"Oh the honour is ours, Emperor Aldercapt. You have ventured far to grace us with your presence." Regis hid the hint of sarcasm in his voice.

"It was the very least I could do. Tomorrow will be a historic day for both our nations, and your Insomnia is truly a marvel. My own cities pail in comparison." he chuckled causing the king to smile. "I pray we are able to take away much from this visit."

Ardyn was leaning against the raining, drinking some kind of beverage, raising his glass as he spied the two women in white as they spoke with the glaives on duty.

"Hello." Lunafreya greeted. "I'm afraid we were never properly introduced yesterday sir."

"We're afraid it's going to have to wait your highness, we're on guard duty." Ashley stated.
