The two men made it downstairs but what awaited Ardyn however, surprised him.

"Is that..?" Ardyn said in awe.

"Ifrit The Infernian." Verstael confirmed with a nod.

"You subjugated a god and brought him here?" Ardyn asked, still in awe a the sight before him.

"He was sound asleep, just like the legends said he'd be, so we put him on ice." Verstael turned to Ardyn. "Do you think you could turn him?"

Verstael's intentions were loud and clear. Ardyn however was shocked at this turn of events. "Into a daemon?" He asked, surprised by the request.

"If you manage to daemonify a deity, you could learn truths no mere mortal could ever dream of knowing. You'll access two thousand years of his memories, and, if you can control him, he'll be a weapon of supreme power. it's certainly an enticing offer, isn't it? Just think. you could exact sweet revenge through divine retribution."

"How do you know what I want?"

"I don't. but I know you have no other options. well, shall we?" Verstael continued on towards the door. "Come see the fruits of my magitek research. The ancient civilization of Solheim, forefathers of our magiteknology, once flourished on this very land. Had they not incurred the wrath of the gods, they make have remained prosperous to this day."

"And you wish to return them to greatness."

"To surpass them. which is why I need you to lend me your strength. But i'm certain magiteknology and daemons are the key to unlocking the door to a new future."

Verstael then lead the way to a wide open area, it seemed to be some kind of loading bay for the magitek they housed in the facility. Just as they were to continue onward through the loading bay, a streak of blue made it's way infront of them. The royal guard.

"Lucians! but how!?" Verstael exclaimed in surprise.

"Qun'mi Squad. Adagium sighted! Requesting backup from Nimbus Squad." A guard spoke up to his fellow teammates.

"Shutting down Communications until all clear." the Squad leader stated.

"So..you've come to kill me have you?" Ardyn smirked.

"Or die trying" She said bluntly.

Just as they battle was about to start. Three more Lucian fighters warped in behind him but in Ardyn's mind..he wasn't seeing Lucian warriors but he was seeing his little brother..Somnus Lucis Caelum and his voice accompanied his image.

"Just as you would kill me. Right, brother? Well, I'm afraid to say you'll never know the satisfaction of taking my life. I'm already dead, and have been for some time, Reunited with the loved one I lost, the one that you allowed to die." Somnus' voice echoed around him as he looked to the soldiers around him that had Somnus' face. "Though I may be gone, my legacy lives on in Lucis! It lives on in the minds and hearts of the soldiers before you. What sort of legacy have you left behind, brother?"

Ardyn screamed as he summoned his weapon and span around, killing all the manifestations of Somnus in a single blow. This wasn't enough to stop the taunting form his brother, his voice bouncing off the walls as waves of Lucian soldiers kept coming.

"A kingdom you can no longer call your own. While you were lost in slumber, I was busy building a kingdom! Perhaps you ought to sleep away your sadness." Somnus' voice echoed through the room as Ardyn daemonified soldier after soldier "You monster! I hope you know it's your fault Aera and Naomi are dead! Had you actually cared for your beloved and dear friend, they would have still been around to watch the kingdom of Lucis flourish..But alas..Aera proved your undoing, you know. You were too caught up in your idealised delusions to save both of our beloveds! You deserve to wander the darkness for all time for what you've done! Mankind ill needs a saviour such as you!"
