As all the chaos within the city was going down, Noctis was on his way out of the city with his friends. Prompto was driving the regalia as Ignis sat in the passenger seat and Gladiolus and Noctis sat in the back, they had not long left the city. Noctis was both anxious to see Lunafreya again and nervous about meeting his little girl for the first time, he however kept the information about his daughter secret from even his closest friends.
"It's been some while. Do you remember the last time you saw Lady Lunafreya?" Ignis asked.
Noctis thought for a moment making a "hmmm" sound. "About...twelve years ago?"
"That would make you what..eight?" Prompto looked back at his best friend. "You were kids!" He smiled but then tensed up as he continued to drive, getting a finger point towards the road lecture from Ignis as he kept his eyes back on the road.
"Hope she hasn't gotten her hopes up." Gladiolus smirked, causing Prompto to laugh slightly saying "Whoa." in response to Gladiolus roasting his friend.
"Why not?" Noctis asked, chuckling nervously then turned to Prompto. "Calm yourself."
"Try to keep it together when you meet her." Gladiolus scolded him.
"She'll expect to see a fine young prince." Ignis agreed.
"Tell me something I don't know." Noctis smiled.
"We don't have time for all that." Ignis stated, turning to his friend. "But this is your wedding we're talking about Noct."
"And that too." Noctis chuckled, causing Prompto to continue laughing. "You really gotta calm down."
And, as fate would have it, the car started to give up, breaking down and coming to a stop.
"Um..Uh oh!" Prompto gasped as the exhaust let out multiple bangs.
"what do you mean 'uh oh?" Gladiolus growled.
"I think I know." Noctis groaned a little. "We've broken down."
"Well, we get out and push her as far as we can." Gladiolus suggested as Prompto, Noctis and Gladiolus got out and started to push the car with Ignis steering.
After a few hours of nothing but endless pushing, the boys stopped for a break then Gladiolus got an idea of hitchhiking and tried to flag down multiple cars. This long process allowed Noctis to sit down and take a short nap and Prompto laying on the floor, tired of all the pushing.
Gladiolus finally gave up when a final dark blue car passed them, honking it's horn at them, waking up the sleeping prince causing him to yawn. With a groan of annoyance, Gladiolus walked over to Ignis and leant on the car. "I think we can forget my idea of hitching our way there. Thought people were friendly outside the city."
"You can only go so far on the kindness of strangers." Ignis sighed, leaning on the wheel and Gladiolus stretched, preparing himself.
"We're just gonna have to push her all the way."
Laying on the floor, Prompto started getting slightly dramatic. "I've already pushed myself...to the brink of death."
"Oh, get up." Gladiolus grumbled, tapping the prince's shoulder and kicked Prompto's foot. "Come on! Car ain't gonna move itself!"
With multiple complaining sounds coming from the two childhood friends, they finally got to their feet and walked to their respective sides of the car.
"Sheesh, I thought the car was supposed to move us!" Prompto complained.
"Wouldn't that be nice?" Noctis sighed tiredly.
