Regis, who walked outside and remembered the story Naomi had told him, ran into the very man he was informed about, only he didn't realise it at first. "Something wrong, officer?" He asked.

"Ah, you must be his majesty," Ardyn smirked, revealing his true form.

"I'm..pleased to make your acquaintance." He stuttered at the shapeshifting phenomena before him. "Why are you here?"

"Why, for you!" Ardyn smirked, sending his royal arms towards the king.

"The royal arms?! Who are you?!" Regis gasped.

"You ought to know, being a man of royal blood yourself." Ardyn teased.

With a gasp, Regis remembers the name Naomi told him. "Adagium!"

"In the flesh, here to bring the bloodline of Lucis to an end!"

And with that, the battle began, both sides using their sets of royal arms against one another.

"Hear me, Adagium! On my honour as king, I will vanquish you!" Regis yelled, doing his best to hold his own against his ancestor.

"Oh dear: What an awful thing to say to your own flesh and blood." Ardyn mocked as the battle continued. Ardyn was only using half his power against Regis, wanting to have a little fun.

"Such power..!" Regis gasped, having only been given a taste of Ardyn's strength.

"Yes, I'm afraid that trait seems to have skipped a generation or two." Ardyn chuckled.

"This monster must be contained... He's too dangerous! He must be stopped!"

"Must I? Really? By whom, may I ask?"

The fighting continued, Regis started to struggle a little bit. Sensing his peril, Naomi raced from the other side of the city and made her way to the Citadel's courtyard.

"What a shame. I expected more from a legendary king of Lucis."

"Well then, I'd certainly hate to disappoint!" Regis explained, warping to the lower levels of the courtyard, followed by Ardyn.

Now, both men weren't holding back; now everything was coming into use.

"Yoo-hoo! Oh Ifrit! Please, be so kind as to lend your friend a hand!" Ardyn called out as he fought the king of Lucis.

On command, Ifrit appeared to use Firaga on the king; however, his attack was stopped by something they never saw coming. Both men looked, and Regis smirked as he knew who just saved him from facing the god's flames.

"Naomi!" He cheered, happy her timing was on point. "Perfect timing!"

"Focus on Ardyn, Regis! I'll handle Ifrit! I got your back!" She nodded and entered her own battle with the fire god himself, leaving Ardyn to fend for himself against Regis.

"Are you alright? You're beginning to look the worse for wear." Ardyn asked, acting concerned.

"No worse than you once I've sealed you away for good!"

"Ah, youth. So confident yet so misguided." Ardyn mocked once again.

Regis once again warped into the centre of the courtyard and put up a bubble shield to protect himself, but that proved his undoing as Ardyn easily took it down, allowing him to inflict massive damage.

"No, I mustn't give up! I can't let him win!" Regis groaned as his body was wracked with pain.

Aulea, Regis's wife, was watching the fight from their bedroom window and fearing for her husband's life. The fire god was still preoccupied with facing Naomi, who wasn't letting up in her assault, and he eventually faded away, retreating for a bit to recover. Believing this wasn't the end, Naomi returned to patrolling the city as she feared Ifrit might have gone elsewhere in the city. During this time, Ardyn emerged victorious in his battle.
