What Could Have Been Part 2: Anakin's Trials

Test Drive

Leia

Leia watched billions of stars speed by at light speed, but like her father said, the galaxy seemed to move in slow motion. "No one ever told me they could be so cute..." the words made Leia's heart skip a beat every time she replayed the conversation in her mind. But would she really ever see him again? And even if she did, her dad had already embarrassed her in front of him!

Leia buried her face in her hands but she was quickly disrupted from her moping by a bang and a grunt coming from the air ducts of the ship. "What was that?" Her father asked from the pilots chair. Leia shrugged, "I don't know."

Luke and their mother opened the door, "Did you guys hear that?" Luke asked excitedly, "I bet we got hit by an asteroid!" Padme chuckled, "I don't think asteroids grunt Luke."

Her father rubbed his chin, "Hmmm... it was probably nothing. Just some sort of engine fit. I'll check it out once we land." Leia frowned, "And exactly when will that be?" She asked impatiently. Anakin checked the screen on the control board, "About two hours," he stood up and yawned, "Just enough time for me to take a quick nap."

Padme smiled and followed him out the door, "That sounds like a good idea..."

Leia and Luke waited for their parents to shut the door before they both grinned mischievously at each other. "So guess what I found out!" Luke exclaimed. He stood proudly, "Mom said that she and Dad met on a planet called Tatooine! She said he used to pod race when he was a kid!" Leia stared out the window with her mind drifting back to her dream world. Luke tapped his foot, "And what did you find out?"

Leia smiled dreamily, "I found out that I'm in love..."

Luke

The words caught Luke off guard, "Excuse me? Love?" Leia didn't look at him, her eyes remained focused on the stars racing by, "Mm-hmm," she answered.

Luke laughed, "And with who?" Leia giggled when she responded, "Han!" Luke raised his eye brows, "Oh, I see, he's imaginary! Leia dear, I think you may be experiencing a little bit of hyper sicknesses. Why don't you just go lie down?"

Leia ignored the comment, "I'm fine..." Luke sighed. He was about to ask another guestions about his sister's dream boy when his eyes met with the control board of the Escapade.

I think it may be time for a test drive... he thought with a sly smirk. Luke hopped into the empty seat and reached for the auto-pilot button. But he suddenly caught himself. Dad is going to kill you! He warned himself. He scanned over the arrangement of buttons in admiration. Then again... maybe he won't have to find out. Surely could land the ship while his father took a nap! What could go wrong?

Luke locked back at his sister who was still literally staring off into space. Without another moment of hesitation, he turned off the auto-pilot and took the controls...
