"Ma'am, we regret to inform you that GySgt A. Cromand was reported as KIA early this morning. I'm sorry for your loss." The preist exchanged an sympethetic expression with Amy as he gently handed her the flag. Both the preist and the USMC Colonel gave Amy their condolences, and with that, they left.

These words hit Amy like bullets. Amy's eyes widened as if the world just ended. Then the tears began. She cried harder than you could imagine anyone cry. Amy dropped to her knees with a loud thud. She held onto that flag tighter and tighter with every breath she took. She screamed his name, knowing he wouldn't hear it, getting louder every time. She realized that this was useless and calmed herself down to a light sob. She stood and gently kissed the corner of the flag and walked into her house, closing the door behind her.

"How could this happen?" She thought.

    Aj was dead.
