The days following Christmas flew by and before anyone of us were ready, we were at the train station once again. Susan and I decided to leave Lucy with Peter and go have a look at the magazine stand.
I glanced up from my article about the queen, suddenly feeling eyes on me. I laughed as I realized they weren't on me, but on the dark haired beauty standing next to me. "Sue. " I whispered, nudging her arm. "You've got a stalker."
She looked up quickly and met the eyes, momentarily, of a boy, about her age.
"Um.." He stuttered, causing us both to draw our attention to him. "You go to Saint Finbars. I go to Henden House, across the road. I've seen you..." She smiled gently. "Sitting by yourself. "
I stifled a laugh at look of aggravation that crossed her face.
"Yes, well, I prefer to be left alone." She replied, looking back down at the magazine.
"Me too!" He grinned eagerly, completely missing her hint. "What's your name!" It came out more of a statement than a question, and I could tell she was contemplating an answer.
"Phyllis."
"Susan!" Lucy cried as she dashed across the street toward us. "Maggie! You two had better come quickly!"
Susan gave the boy an apologetic look before grabbing my arm and following Lucy back inside the station.
The sound of people chanting 'Fight! Fight!' got increasingly louder as we approached a crowd. We pushed our way through and I gasped as Susan shook her head upon seeing Peter being held back by two boys. He made eye contact with me shortly, regret clearly written all over his face.
"Edmund!" Lucy cried, snapping me out of my daze. He pushed by us and dropped his bag, tackling the nearest boy. The fight lasted a few more seconds before officers broke it up. Lucy, Susan, and I scurried away quickly, as did the rest of the crowd, toward a nearby bench in front of the tracks.
"Unbelievable." Susan mumbled.
Lucy turned to her and asked, "What is?"
"Peter has already gotten himself into a fight and we haven't gotten to school yet. Mother will be so disappointed. " Lucy nodded sincerely.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the boys heading our way and I looked down at my feet.
"You're welcome." Edmund exclaimed as he plopped down on the bench.
"I had it sorted."
"What was it this time?" Susan sighed.
Peter turned to face us slowly. "He bumped me."
"So you hit him?!" Lucy cried.
"No. After he bumped me, they tried to make apologize. That's when I hit him."
"Really." Susan rolled her eyes. "Is it that hard just to walk away?"
"I shouldn't have to! Don't you ever get tired of being treated like a kid?"
Edmund scoffed upon hearing this. "We are kids."
"Well I wasn't always." Peter glanced around. "It's been a year. How long does he expect us to wait?"
"I think it's time to accept that we live here. There's no use pretending any different."
"Susan." I cut her off. "News stand boy's heading this way."
"Oh no." She groaned, turning to face Lucy. "Pretend you're talking to me. "
"Um. " Edmund started, "We are talking to you."
She rolled her eyes and jumped slightly as Lucy sprang to her feet. "Ow!"
"Quiet Lu." Susan tried to shush her. "Something pinched me!"
"Hey stop pulling!" Edmund cried.
"Nobody's touching you." I replied.
"Would all of you just.... what is that?" Susan gasped as we rose to our feet simultaneously.
I stumbled back as the train began to fly by and the station seemed to be tearing apart right before my eye.
Bricks and posters were flying each and every way and behind the train, an image seemed to flicker in and out.
"Quick! Everyone hold hands!" Peter exclaimed as he yanked me towards him. I felt Edmund grasp my other hand as I buried my face in Peters arm and fought through the urge to scream.
"Look." Peter whispered to me suddenly.
I lifted my head slowly and my mouth dropped open at the beautiful beach in front of me, complete with a crystal clear ocean.
Lucy looked to Susan, smiling as she pulled off her jacket and they both took off towards the water, Edmund not far behind.
"Welcome to Narnia."
