"I don't remember this way." Susan said aloud as we trudged behind Peter through the woods.
"That's the problem with girls, can't carry a map in your heads." He joked.
Lucy scoffed. "Thats because our heads have something in them!"
"We should've just listened to the D.L.F in the first place." Susan whispered to Lucy and I.
"D.L.F?" Asked Edmund.
Lucy smiled as I replied, "Dear little friend."
"Oh." The dwarf stopped, as did Edmund. "That's not at all patronizing is it?" The dwarf rolled his eyes.
"I'm not lost." I heard Peter mumble to himself.
"No. Your just going the wrong way." The dwarf smirked.
"You last saw Caspian at the Shuddering Woods." Peter exclaimed, eyeing the dwarf. "The quickest way there is to cross at the River Rush. "
The dwarf stepped forward. "Well unless I'm mistaken, there's no crossing in these parts."
"That explains it then. Your mistaken. " Peter growled as he turned away and continuing walking. We walked for a while longer before coming to a break in the trees.
"Is this suppose to be the river?" I asked, peering down the edge of a cliff at the small line of water down below.
"See." Susan started, "Over time water erodes the earths soil, causing.."
"Oh shut up." Peter grumbled, turning to Edmund as he began to speak.
"Is there another way down?" Edmund asked the dwarf.
"Yeah. Falling."
"Well we weren't lost!" I laughed at Peter quietly.
"There's a break near Veruna deep enough to swim in. "
"Better that than walking." Susan sighed. I nodded, silently agreeing with her and glancing at Lucy as I noticed she was staring at the other side of the cliff.
"Aslan?" She whispered, taking another step forward. "Aslan!" She cried louder, drawing everyone's attention. "It's Aslan over there!" She looked over her shoulder, pointing. "See! He's right over..... there?" She frowned as she realized she was pointing at nothing.
"Do you see him now?" The dwarf asked.
"I'm not crazy."
Peter placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sure there's many a number of lions in these woods, just like that bear."
"But he really was there."
"Look." The dwarf started,"Im not about to jump off a cliff for somebody who doesn't exist."
Lucy frowned, looking to Edmund for help. He looked at Peter before casting his eyes to the ground and mumbling, "The last time I didn't believe Lucy, I ended up looking pretty stupid."
"Did you see him?" Peters voice rang out. It took me a minute to realize the question was addressed to me.
"Um... I wasn't really looking. " I gave an apologetic look to Lucy as she sighed and looked back at the empty woods, before following the rest of us towards Veruna.
