Six Months Later
I watched in the far distance as everyone stood around and celebrated Halo's first birthday, laughing, smiling, and just having an all around good time. Halo, my beautiful baby girl, was laughing and running around with the other kids her age; while Alex and her friend sat side by side and talked amongst each other. She looked even more beautiful then the very last time I saw her. She looked...happy, which made me happy, but I didn't like the fact that she was happy without me. Was that selfish of me? Yes. Yes it was, but I really didn't care. I missed being around her, even though I'm the reason why we're not together anymore, but I did what I did to keep her and Halo safe and I won't continue to apologize for making a spur the moment decision.
"J?" I heard Frost say, as he walked up behind me. "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be here."
"Now you know I couldn't miss Halo's first birthday." I murmured, turning around to face him. "I even brought her a gift." I handed him a small bag, as he took it from me and sighed.
"You should go."
"No, I should stay here and enjoy my daughter's birthday party. I'm not bothering anyone, nor does anyone know I'm here, so what's the problem?"
"Alex has been going through a lot over the past six months and I'm afraid that if she sees you... it'll trigger her." He said.
"Trigger her? How?" I questioned, glaring at him. He sighed, nervously glancing towards where the party was being held, before looking back at me. "What is it that you're not telling me?"
"See for yourself." He pointed over towards Alex, who stood up, revealing her noticeably round stomach which made my eyes widen.
"She's...she's...is it...mine?"
"It would appear so." He sighed. "Apparently this one was conceived when you were still Jack, but she didn't find out until after everything calmed down. She came to copes about you, Harley, and Lucy, and after that...she found out she was pregnant again. She contemplated on getting an abortion or putting it up for adoption, but she decided against it. She even asked Harper and I if we wanted the baby, but we found out that we were expecting as well." I looked back and saw that Blue was pregnant as well, which meant that I missed out on more then I thought.
"Why didn't you tell me this? I pay you good money to report back to me with information about Alex and Halo! You couldn't mention that Alex was pregnant, when you came by to alert me that Halo was walking?" I snapped at him.
"It's not my place to tell you something like that, J, and I refuse to continue betraying Alex's trust! You asked me to look after your family, which is what I've been doing, but now I have my own family to look after and I can't keep up with all the lies and bullshit! I'm sorry, J, but I'm done." He turned and prepared to walk away, but stopped and turned to face me. "I'll be sure that Halo gets this, but this is the last time I'll be reporting to you. Why don't you do yourself, and Alex and Halo a favor, and just...leave her alone."
