Chapter 19

Tris's POV

The day after Marlene talked to us was a day of relaxation for me, I felt so much better knowing what happened. Even if it wasn't something to look forward to.

The funeral was on Sunday, it was Tuesday today, five days. Then only a week until Marlene leaves. I've talked to Christina, about finding a way to make her stay. But her aunt won't budge, I mean I can't blame her, she's the only thing Marlene has left of her family.

On the good hand, Tobias and I have been working on our song. So far, we've come up with most of it, involving his guitar. We get together on Mondays when he's not working and after he works.

I was in Science, bored out of my mind, listening to our teacher talk about planets, we've jumped form animals to planets to plants.

I feel a poke on my back, turning to find Tobias stretched out on the plastic chair. Even though he wasn't still a complete "badass" like when I met him, he still kept a reputation of being uncontrollable, at least to some people.

"We're still meeting up at 5 right?" He asks.

I nod. "Yeah."

He smiles, "Okay, good."

I turn back to the front, only to be poked once again.

"What is it now, Tobias?" I ask, feeling slightly annoyed.

He smiles. "Do you have any idea what he's talking about?"

I return the smile. "Mars or some shit like that."

"Hey! Don't dis the planets." He beams.

"Yeah, Tris. What the hell." Uriah says.

"Shut up." I mumble then face the front.

The bell rings, interrupting our teacher, only to hear him curse under his breath.

"You may leave, but don't forget about that test next Tuesday!" He shouts and erases the chalkboard.

Uriah, Tobias and I walk out together to our lockers.

"What are you doing tonight, Uriah?" Tobias asks, switching his textbooks.

"Video gaming." He replies, shrugging. "And maybe hanging with Will, or Marlene. You?"

"Writing songs with Tris." Tobias locks his locker.

"Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice." Uriah says, dragging on the word.

I clap a hand over his mouth. "Yeah, our song is almost ready."

"What's it called?" Uriah says, muffled due to my hand covering it.

I groan. "I told you about ten times today."

"Repeat it, I forgot."

"Riptide,"

"Great! You need to let me listen to it sometime." Uriah says.

"Once it's done." Tobias says.

"Okay."
