"...And because both the cow herder and the weaver neglected their responsibilities, the Sky King separated them for all eternity."

"That's awful. Why would the king be so cruel to two people in love?"

"Because the cow herder and weaver neglected their responsibilities, their town suffered. Should being in love mean letting the people around you suffer?"

"...I suppose not. That would be selfish."

"Love can be either way... a wonderful selfishness that builds a kingdom, or an evil selfishness that destroys one."

"Have you ever been in love, Namjoon? ...Namjoon?"

"If I was to fall in love, I'd have to make sure it wasn't a selfish one that leads to destruction. If I did... if  I allowed everything around me to fall into ruin... then it would hurt the one I love most."

Three days passed. Hoseok ordered you to rest, and you obeyed regardless of the painful memories that kept you awake at night. It would have been better to train. It would have given you something to focus on. But all you could focus on now was the night sky and the memories that came along with it.

Hoseok healed easily. He didn't even limp after three days. It didn't make his mood any better, however. He had sent a dozen men to scout Namjoon - to gain information on what he was doing, where he was going, and any other useful information. But he wasn't happy about leaving his men without himself or Taehyung to lead. The mission was too important for that.

Whatever the mission was.

What was his plan for scouting Namjoon, anyways?

"They should have been back by now," Hoseok muttered, looking up at the moon. "I gave them explicit instructions."

Taehyung adjusted his robe and winced as he shifted in front of the fire. "They'll return."

Hoseok clicked his tongue. "Something's off."

"Do you think Wonho was ready to lead such a mission?"

"He's completed his training. He's one of the best in stealth and strategy. But being the best doesn't mean being above mistakes."

Hoseok kept his eyes on the sky.

You added another log to the fire, hoping it would warm up your thoughts. You felt the eerie chill, same as Hoseok, but you tried to convince yourself that it was just paranoia.

But Namjoon was smart. He knew strategy and psychology better than anyone. It wouldn't have been hard for him to figure out that he was being spied on. And with the others out there - without Hoseok or Taehyung as their leader - who knew what trouble they could have been in?

You hated to admit it, but Taehyung was a better leader than you gave him credit for. He wasn't wrong with a lot of the things he had said to you, although his demeanor was harsher than Hoseok's.

Regardless, you still didn't like him as a person.

You felt him eyeing you. You raised your head at him and lifted both your eyebrows, waiting for the reason for his stare.

"You're too quiet," Taehyung said, staring at you. "I don't like it."

"I'm not interested in what you don't like," you replied. "I'm just here to bring firewood."

"That's probably the most useful thing you've done here." He turned to Hoseok. "I still don't understand her purpose here, Master."

Hoseok brought his finger to his lips, eyes still on the sky. You and Taehyung both went silent, looking up with him. His eyes widened, and he pointed.
