Chapter 16- anxiety

David's pov
I woke up and rolled over hoping to cuddle with my wife but my bed was empty. I got up, immediately confused, and walked to Izzy's room. I pushed open the door lightly so that it wouldn't make a noise and saw liza all squished in Izzy's bed with Izzy laying right next to her. I picked up Izzy and brought her through to our bed before pulling a blanket over her and then did the same with liza. I placed her on the bed and pulled the comforter over her before kissing both of their heads and climbing back into bed with them.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off. I rolled over and turned it off before rolling back to face my girls. I kissed both their heads again and woke up Liza "I thought I was in Izzy's room?" Liza asked as she woke up "you were and you looked so squished so I brought you both in here" I said to her "you are the cutest" she replied "okay we need to get ready for the appointment" I said kissing her head and getting out of bed "i should wake this cutie but look at her squishy little cheeks" Liza said awing at our daughter, just then mace came in rubbing his eyes "Good morning my little man" I said picking him up "morning daddy" he said still a little sleepy. "You ready to have a fun day at grandmas whilst me, mommy and Izzy go to the doctors?" I asked him "yeah, is Toby there?" He asked "I think so buddy" I replied "he plays soccer with me and it's super fun" he said smiling "good, let's go get you ready" I said taking him to his room. I dressed him into some black pants and a shirt before I went back into my room where liza and Izzy were still laying. I picked up liza and tickled her waking her up. "Daviddd!" She said squirming our if my grip. She got herself down and pressed her lips to mine. When we broke apart we laughed a little and then I scooped up Izzy and hugged her, I placed a couple of kisses to her head "Izzy wake up little one" I said to her. She woke up and stretched in my arms before putting her arms around my neck and cuddling me more. "I love my girls" I said pulling liza closer and giving them both a kiss on the head. "Let's get ready" Liza said taking Izzy and walking to her bedroom. I went down to the playroom where mason was. "What you watching?" I asked him sitting on the sofa next to him
"Paw Patrol" he replied not taking his eyes off of the screen "why does Izzy have to go to the doctors?" He asked "because she's not well" I replied "but fine she's not even sick or anything" he said "I know but you know how she always gets super upset if me or mommy aren't with her" I said to him "yeah" he replied "well it makes her super scared and anxious so she might need some help to make her feel better and less scared" I explained "what if she's scared forever?" He asked looking worried for his little sister. "I'm almost certain they will help her, mommy has it too but she doesn't get it that bad any more because she has us to help her" I said to him "can just girls get it?" He asked "no bud" I replied laughing a little "can you catch it?" He asked "no it's just if you get scared a lot sometimes it happens if something big changes or something bad" I said to him "but nothing bad happened daddy" he replied "I know but me and mommy went away for a week and it was a long time for Izzy and she might think we're going to leave again since it scared her" I explained. He nodded "ill look after her and make sure she doesn't get scared" he said "your a good brother mace" I said to him "I know daddy" he replied. The girls then came downstairs and we got ready to go.

We got into the Tesla and dropped off mason at my parents house before heading to the doctors office.
When we arrived we waited in the waiting room until Izzy's name was called which took about half an hour. As soon as her name was called we went through to the little office where the doctor was sat "hello Isabella" the doctor said in a super friendly tone Izzy went shy as usual and dug her head into my shoulder. "So what's the problem then?" The doctor then asked me and Liza "we think she might have anxiety" liza said to her "Okay what signs of anxiety has she had so far?" The doctor asked "she's super anxious around everyone who isn't me or David and she won't stay in a room without us and every single night she has bad dreams and needs one of us to sleep with her" Liza said. "That does sound a lot like anxiety, has anything happened recently that's a huge change or something traumatising?" She asked "nothing big but we recently got married and we went on a honeymoon for a week which we think could have affected her" I explained. "Hmm, let me just write some things down" the doctor said. "Okay well I think that you are right with the anxiety lead so to help her you can talk to her about what she is scared about, try and stick to daily routine, that will help her and maybe try to practise some relaxation techniques, also don't get yourselves worked up over it, try not to cause yourselves anxiety because of Izzy because she's a kid and she will brush it off a lot easier" she explained "Okay thank you" Liza said "make an appointment for a few months time and we can check up on how she's doing, be sure to call if you have any questions" she said standing up and holding open the door. "Thanks" we both said on the way out. Izzy's head was still buried into my shoulder as we walked out to the Tesla. I strapped Izzy into her seat and on the way to pick up mason she fell asleep. I turned to liza on the journey and rested my hand on her leg. "You okay baby?" I asked her beginning to rub circles with my thumb on her thigh "I'm a little stressed" she said looking down at my hand "why baby?" I asked her "I'm so scared for her" she replied "Liza she's going to be fine she's a kid she's tough, plus she's just like you so she's one of the strongest girls in the world" I said smiling at the last part I said. She looked at me still full of worry "baby please don't work yourself up about it she's going to be okay we're going to help her" I said. She looked back in the mirror at Izzy. "Come on let's go get our boy and let's not be sad" I said to her. She nodded and I took her hand in mine kissing it.

We arrived at my moms and we picked up mason before going home and having dinner before mason went in the playroom and we sat down to talk with Izzy. "Okay izzy you know how sometimes you get scared and sometimes you have bad dreams?" Liza said to her "yeah mommy" she replied "well the doctor thinks you might have anxiety" Liza said "what's that?" She asked "it's where you feel scared and get bad dreams a lot" I explained "am I sick?" She asked "well not really but sometimes you're going to feel scared and worried but you always need to tell mommy and daddy when you feel like that so we can help you" Liza said to her "Okay" she replied "we love you so much Izzy" I said opening out my arms for her. she jumped down from the sofa and into my arms. "Love you daddy" she said to me, I opened my other arm out and liza joined our hug. "Love you both" Liza added. "Don't leave out me!" Mason said running over and joining us in our hug. "I love all four of you more than anything in the world" Liza said "we love you too" I replied.
