Dear readers,

I'm loving University. The teachers are so wonderfully left-winged!

I didn't have a roommate at first, but now I do. Her name is Maria Lucia. She's from El Salvador. She's nice enough, but I always feel so guilty about her having me as a roommate. After all, I go to bed every night at midnight or later (or earlier, depending on your way of thinking) and she always goes to bed so early. At like 10! Gugh

Anyway, I just got out of my Cultural Anthropology class, where we were talking about how Harper and his cronies are making Canada a war-mongerer like the U.S. And when I got out of class, I talked to one of the other students who said she considers the prof an ass because he made it out like soldiers were a bunch of murderers. And my response to that was... aren't they? I mean, they kill people, and that makes you a murderer, no matter what good cause it was for. I mean, if I were a soldier, and I killed someone, I would be a murderer. I would fully consider myself a murderer, and I wouldn't like it - but I would continue to kill for my country.

The soldiers sacrifice themselves, becoming murderers to protect their country, and they deserve respect for that. But they are still murderers.

What I'm saying is that being a murderer isn't a good thing, but it doesn't make you the horrible person one usually associates with the word.

People who kill for revenge are murderers, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't kill anyone who even attempted to kill either of my parents.

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say on that subject.

I switched out of The Study of Politics and into Cultural Studies - it's the study of Popular Culture. I quite like it. Much better than The Study of Politics, that was much too dry a course.

Am loving my dorm XD

Chao!
