Chapter 5 : Dinner Kiss

Dad's already home when we arrived. "Go to the kitchen," I tell Sean and he obliged. I go to my room and place my new books on my table.

I don't have the energy to organize them now. That man drained every strength that I have.

I feel something vibrating on my thighs and I instantly knew that my phone is ringing.

As soon as I saw the caller's ID, I tossed my phone on the side.

Ryan's calling.

He wouldn't like it if I answered him in a grumpy mood. It'll just cause a misunderstanding.

I'll just come up with another 'I was sleeping' story.

I didn't know I would fell asleep, my stomach is growling and I remembered that I didn't get lunch.

I checked my phone and it's already six in the evening, with seven missed calls from Ryan.

I can't believe I wasted the last day of summer break sleeping, I could've done many things today.

I fell asleep I'm sorry. Talk later?

I pressed the send button and within seconds I earned a reply.

Okay, I'll call you later :)

I was startled because of the noise coming downstairs. I figured I should go down and see what is happening, and to find for food as well. 

As I slowly went to the living room, my mom's voice is becoming louder. "... she can tour you around." I didn't hear the whole sentence but I'm sure she said something about touring.

"It's okay, I can manage myself." A familiar voice said, yet I'm not so sure who it is.

"Oh, there she is! Come here, Elise!" As soon as my mom's eyes darted on me she gestured for me to come near her.

I don't want to look disrespectful, especially now that we have a visitor. I went with the flow and plastered the nicest smile that I can fake on my face.

But my smile automatically turned into a scowl when I saw the man's face.

Him again.

"I didn't know you live in here." He started.

"You knew each other?" My mom curiously asked.

"Yes."

"No." He contradicts. "Well, I saw her at the mall earlier while watching her little brother, responsibly." He emphasized the last word.

I would love to tell my parents that he almost killed me by drowning but they never knew about that day.

Besides, they'll not get mad at him, instead, I'll be the one in trouble because I agreed to Serene and Henry to go to a resort without their approval.

"Hi, I'm Jimin Park your new neighbor." He smiled but beneath his eyes his telling me something else.

He's the new neighbor? The universe must be playing with me.

He reached for my hand and without any choices left I shake it.

"Hi, I'm Elise, welcome to the neighborhood." I hope my parents didn't notice the weird tone I gave him. I looked at mom and dad and they are very pleased.

My eyes traveled from them to Serene, she's looking at me as well and I gave her a questioning look and she just shrugs.

She didn't obviously expect that the new neighbor guy she's talking and fantasizing about will turn out to be the asshole who her sister had a fight with.
