*2002* Madalyn sat watching her father intently. Rick was practicing for the recording of the new album. Her father, even with one arm, can outdrum most two arm drummers. "What's wrong Mon petite?" Rick ran a hand through his curly hair. "I'm bored daddy. I mean there's two drumsets, teach me something." "Alright get over here." The small child got on the other drum stool and picked up the sticks. "I'm ready daddy." Rick smiled to himself. 'My kid reminds me so much of Steve.' Rick played a simple drumbeat and his daughter copied him. Rick changed up the rhythm and watched his child. "How'd you do that Daddy?" Madalyn was lost. He got up and walked over to her drum set. "I confused you didn't I Mon petite?" "Yes." She whined. "Here hit the snare and then the Tom in a rapid succession." "Okay." Madalyn did as Rick instructed and played the beat perfectly. "Daddy, I want to learn Foolin'." "Okay baby." Rick got behind his kit and played the song through. Madalyn played along with her dad and was amazed at how easy the song was. "There you go! We're almost done!" Rick cheered on his daughter. Vivian Campbell stuck his head in the door to see what was going on. He saw his niece on the drums and grabbed his guitar. He started playing the main riff and got a smile from Rick and a look of fear from Madalyn. Sav came in and started playing the bass. Madalyn played perfectly. Joe and Phil joined in for the last minute of the tune. When the song was over, Rick looked at the guys. "I think you've stunned everyone Mon petite." Rick smiled. "Fucking 'ell! If you ever need a replacement Ricky we found it!" Vivian exclaimed. "'e maybe right Rick." Joe chimed in. "She goes to school, and besides I'll be able to play for the rest of my life." Rick was a little defensive with his response. "We were just poking fun Rick. Relax mate." Phil put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "I'm sorry guys. I just can't believe my little girl is growing up. It's almost too fast." "Well, when she has kids at eleven I want to be a godfather." Joe laughed as Rick and Phil slapped him on the back of the head. "Bad joke?" "Yes." Both men sighed. Rick looked over as Madalyn and Vivian we're messing around with a drum and guitar pattern. Sav joined and they had a solid song rolling. "She even writes music. She is yours Rick." Phil smiled. "Come on Mon petite. It's time for us to go home." Madalyn hugged her uncles goodbye and got in the car. They drove home. "That song you wrote with Viv and Sav might go on the new record." The little child squealed in excitement. "Not a word to mum about this. It's our little secret." "Okay." The pair walked into the house and had a quiet night.
