Chapter 14
JUST LOOKING AT FELIX SAYS IT ALL. I’d bet he’s cursing Draven to the fiery depths of hell while he hears the words friends-with-benefits, and seeing them so…touchy-touchy. I’d find it humorous, but I don’t.
Though I guess I should look on the bright side of things while Cassidy is on her way to killing Skai, and then her family. Her brother, her sister, her…“father”.
What the hell’s with her father anyways? He’s messed up, which explains why Skai thinks she is so messed up, I hear her mother is even more messed up than her father. It’s an entire family full of screw-ups.
It seems that Draven is the closest she will ever be close to. For anyone.
I’m driving, while Draven and Skai sit right in the back, laughing and giggling and just chatting about god knows what. Felix and Brett are talking about…whatever, like I’m listening, and me? I’m just driving.
Yuppers, driving and driving…such fun.
It doesn’t take long to get to the airport; about an hour, if not forty five minutes.
Felix booked for the soonest flight, which is only in two hours, so we have to stay in an airport for two goddamned hours. Again, such fun…
By the time we sit down in in a restaurant in the airport, the sun has set, and the airport is pretty filled up.
I don’t think Skai has even acknowledged that she has a sadistic serial killer on her heels while she has Draven here. I’ll admit, this emo kid really does do a great job at keeping Skailar occupied in various good ways. And, no matter how much it annoys Felix, he has to admit that it takes a lot off his shoulders, too. Thank god for Draven’s awareness, though it still freaks me out that a random human knows about us. But it’s not suspicious that Skai and Draven are the only one’s eating, though the rest of us sit with a glass of untouched water in front of us.
“Are you going to tell us how the hell you know about us?” Felix eventually breaks Skai and Emo’s laughter, and Emo comes to an abrupt stop of breath. Yup, I come up with names for random people, so what? He is emo after all. Emo turns to face us, his face suddenly troubled.
Skai stares up at him expectedly, also just as curious as the rest of us.
“It’s a fairly…personal situation,” his eyes flicker down to Skai as he says this, so it clearly has something to do with her, though she just may not know it.
“What’s ever too personal to talk about between you and me?” Skailar finds us a window to answers, and Emo rolls his eyes at her.
“Aren’t you helpful,” he mutters. “Trust me, I’d rather not talk about it now––”
“Really? You, out of the blue, say that you know what we are, and that Skai has a doppelgänger who’s ready to rip her apart. I think you should start talking, Piercing.” I argue.
He looks back down at Skailar. “…you probably don’t even want to hear it.” he says softly, obviously speaking only to her.
She snorts. “Please, what could you possibly tell me that would freak me out? Out of everything––?”
“It’s about Dylan,” he interjects, and then Skai really does freeze up. I can’t even hear her breathing, and Emo doesn’t look surprised at all. But Felix does. Does he know a…Dylan? “Yup, so can we just leave it for now?” he leans back in the booth, folding his arms across his chest, and Skai still isn’t moving.
“And who’s Dylan?” I ask, breaking the sudden silence, but no one answers.
“Excuse me,” Skai murmurs so quietly, so coldly, she sounds dead. Emotionless as she squirms out the booth and towards the public bathroom.
“How is it about Dylan?” Yup, my brother knows some Dylan.
“…she told you about it?” Emo also sounds pretty lifeless.
“Yes.” Felix answers, sounding pissed in somewhat way. Then again, when isn’t he?
So, shit, I better stay out of this one.
