Shark's house is pretty big, easy to imagine two people living in. He'd lied about his and Rio's ages, so they got out of the orphanage sooner, apparently. Anyway, the fridge contained a fair amount of food. But, in my time of hanging with him, he's always bought sandwiches and baguettes from shops. It's hard to imagine him buying food. I found some veg to make a salad with. I'm a strange child, I know. Switching on the TV, and watching Futurama, I throw my feet onto the sofa. Shark walks down the stairs, black shirt and grey bottoms. He stifles a yawn.
"Tired?" I ask. Lifting my legs up, I pull my knees into my stomach. Shark sits down next to me.
"What is that?" He asked.
"What, have ya never seen a salad before?" I replied, puzzled.
"I meant the, ugh, things in it."
"What? You mean like lettuce, feta, onions, peppers-"
"Stop!" He yells. "No mention of onions or peppers, okay?" I raised an eyebrow.
"...Okay..." He sighed.
"If I tell you something, you can't tell anyone."
"Sure."
"I...kind of have a fear of onions and peppers." I guffaw with laughter. I cover my mouth as Shark looks profusely embarrassed.
"Rose..."
"I'm sorry. Okay, I promise." I hold up my pinkie. He looks at it funnily.
"I don't do pinkie promises." Shark rolls his eyes. "I figure Rio woulda told ya." After I finish my salad, Shark takes my bowl and replaces it with a bowl full of assorted chocolate bites and popcorn. He switches on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. It was honestly a great movie, but it made me cry at one point. Subconsciously, I'd moved closer to Shark.
Shark POV:
The movie was getting sadder and I was highly focused. That was, until I felt a nudge. I looked down a bit to see Rose snuggling against me, tears brimming in her deep green eyes. I felt...nervous. Comfortable. She was great company, but I can't forget she's also my sister's best friend. But, for now, I'm pretty comfy.
The movie finishes and as the credits roll down, Rose has fell asleep on my shoulder. I smile at her cuteness. Her smile is small, yet adorable and her chocolate hair falls around her shoulders, making her look slightly like an angel. I shake my head and lift her up, carrying her to Rio's room. 'Shark...' she mutters as I place her down. I smile and leave. No point in falling for her. Rio'd never let me hear the end of it.
I switch the TV off and head to bed myself, passing Rio's room. Rose isn't in bed. Jeez, she wakes up fast.
"Ugh..." I hear her moan.
"Rose?" I ask. She enters the room from Rio's bathroom, with a wet tissue pressed against her eye and one against her head.
"I fell off the bed." She replies, sheepishly.
"Are you okay?" I ask, worried. On her hand that's holding her head is a small bit of blood.
"I'm fine." She pauses and passes me. "Goodnight, Reginald." I nod, walking out and notice a picture on the side of the desk. It shows Rio and Rose, laughing with ice creams. Rio has strawberry with chocolate sauce (her favourite) and Rose has what seems like Honeycomb and Vanilla with Toffee sauce. I sigh. 'Rio....'
Rose POV:
I awoke in the morning with a hurting head. 'Come on life...let's get back to normal.' I think.
School's been boring as always, but my friends cheer me up. Yuma's had his little adventures as always. Bronk and him falling out, him getting new Numbers etc. Gray's out of hospital and I'm seeing Shark a bit more now, especially since he decided to come back to school. When he walked into class, bag slung over shoulder and casual frowning face, a lot of people seemed shocked. A couple of girls had spare seats next to them, but he came and sat next to me. They seemed very jealous. In fact, they showed they were jealous.
"Rose?" One of them asked. I'd just walked out of class when two girls approached me.
"Uh, yeah?"
"My name is Elise. And I challenge you to a duel." I roll my eyes.
"What're the stakes?" I ask, knowing there'll be at least one.
"Easy. You win, we leave you alone. You lose, you don't talk to Shark." The other girl says.
"Yeah, Lucia's put up good stakes. What do ya say?"
"Come on then. The courtyard." Me and Elise arrive and slap on our duel disks.
"Let's duel!" We pull our five cards.
"I'll go first! I draw!" I declare. 'Okay, I've gotta play this right.'
"I activate Double Summon! I summon two monsters! Appear, Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier and Blizzard Falcon! Then I activate Blustering Winds! This allows my Falcon to gain 1000 ATK points!" I smile.
"Now my monster's ability activates! When my Falcon gains ATK points, you, Elise, take that boost as damage!" She flies back, her LP now at 3000.
"Now! I overlay Blizzard Falcon and Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier to Xyz Summon! Creature woven by hope and spider's silk! Descend in all your might! Number 37: Hope Woven Spider Dragon Shark!" (ATK 2600 DEF 2100)
"I place a card face down and end my turn!" Elise shudders in the might of my Number.
"I draw!" Elise continues to summon two Level 4 monsters and boosting their levels to 5 with two copies of the same spell: Star Changer. She proceeded to summon Number 14: Greedy Sarameya. (ATK 2500 DEF 1500) 'This should get interesting.'
"My turn!" My LP are at 3500, where Elise's are at 2000. Number 14 has been destroyed and she showed another Number. Number 21: Frozen Lady Justice. (ATK 500 DEF 500)
"Draw! I tribute my face down monster to summon a horrible threat! I summon, Dai-Sojo of the Ice Barrier!" (ATK 1600 DEF 2200)
"Now, Dai-Sojo! Attack!" Elise's LP shrink to 400. When my Number attacks, pure terror is completely evident in her eyes. Her LP falls to 0 and I approach her, absorbing the Numbers. Their energy fills me, but Mizen fights if off.
"You're a terrible duellist." I say, with a turn of my heel and head off. Skipping class, I head to the roof to see Shark.
"I saw the duel. Nice job." He says.
