Chapter 5

The rest of the week continued on as usual, except now I made sure I marked my students work inside my classroom before I went home, because I do not get joy out of marking my papers late at home, and having to lug them back and forth, so it is just easier for me to do it here.

It's Friday afternoon and I am eating lunch by myself in my room again, I probably should start eating with the teachers again, they may think I am purposely avoiding them, I'll eat with them on Monday.

I picked at my lunch and began going through students work so I didn't have to stay too long after school, it wasn't long before the bell rung out through the school and students were filing into my classroom and taking their seats.

i cleared my throat and stood up from my desk and walked around in front of it to talk to the students.

"Miss.Harding is it true that you're single?" Josh asked.

"i didn't realise that was apart of todays lesson Mr. Webster"

"well it's not, but is it true?" he asked.

"i will neither deny or confirm this allegation, because technically it is none of your business, so shall we get on with today's lesson?' i asked the class.

they just sat their silently and stared at me.

"i'll take the silence as a yes" i told the class.

"Josh would you be so kind as to lend me your hat for the next 5 minutes? seeing as you shouldn't be wearing it in my classroom anyway" i told him.

Josh pulled his hat off and handed it to me, i walked over to the first row in my class and handed the girl the hat.

"write your name in the hat and then pass it to the person behind you, when it gets the last person pass it to the person next to and bring it forward, then you are going to give the hat to the next row and they are going to pick a name out of it, once you have done so you are going to collect an envelope and a camera from me, and you have until the end of the school day to complete the tasks, so you won't be going to your last class of the day"

their was a chorus of yes's to be heard, as the students wrote their names down and then they were picked out of the hat.

"once you have picked out a name, find your partner and come to me"

students began lining up in front of to collect their items.

"you are not allowed to leave the school premises, the last thing on the list is that you each write a page about what you have learned today, and then you will return it to me, it may take you 1 hour to complete or it may take you 3 hours before you go home, but i want it completed today, if you do not return it by the last bell then you will fail, you are to act responsibly while you are outside of my classroom, it was a challenge to get Mr. karamakough to agree to this, so please act like an adult, even though i know that will be hard for some of you" i gave the last camera and envelope to the last pair and they all left my classroom.

"okay i have a free hour to get as many markings done as possible" i spoke outloud to myself.

"but first, i think i'll go and make myself a coffee"

i walked out of my classroom and towards the teachers lounge.

once i had made my coffee i decided to take a stroll around the school instead of returning to my classroom straight away, i don't need to mark the papers right now, there isn't that many for me to do, i'll just sta an extra hour after school.

i walked towards the music room hearing a piano being played, i peered inside the room and see a student sitting by herself at the piano, why isn't she in class? she is going to get into serious trouble if someone finds her.
