Angry and Irritated beyond belief at having to justify herself, Sophia walked to the huge book cases that lined three of the study walls and found the book she'd been reading from that day. It was a handwritten book, beautifully illuminated and bound in thick leather with gold lettering on the front. She turned to the correct page and smacked it down in front of Aurora.

"There."

She tapped her foot impatiently as her sister read meticulously through the ancient Latin verses. When she had finished, there was an odd look on her face.

"This is about fulfilling your deepest desires."

"Exactly. Sex. That's what I have been trying to tell you."

Her sister looked her in the eye. "Sophia, don't take this the wrong way, but...sex has never been your deepest desire. Certainly not casual sex. No matter how attractive the man."

"How do you know?" Sophia retorted resentfully. How could Aurora manage to turn even morality into an insult? Her sister didn't say a word, but the look was eloquent.

"All right, fine," Sophia muttered. "I never thought so, either, but obviously I must have been suppressing my libido all these years, like you do." So there.

Aurora's jaw clenched.

"You know it's true. When did you last have sex?"

Damn it, Sophia. We're not discussing me."

"What's wrong, sis? Jealous?"

"You'd like that, wouldn't you?" Aurora shot back. Having your private little revenge, eh? Hurt me by flaunting your demon lover, in my face? What could be better?"

Sophia gasped. "I would never-"

Suddenly Aurora's eyes grew wide as saucers. "Oh, my God. That's it!" She cried.

Sophia gritted her teeth. "What's it?"

"Your greatest desire! It's revenge."

"What?"

"My God. Elvis presley is a vengeance demon. He must be."

Sophia was so shocked and insulted she couldn't even think to make a comeback.

"That would explain everything." Aurora went on, a dismayed look creeping into her eyes. "Haven't you noticed that everyone you dislike is suddenly having bad things happen to them?"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"First Marta and Dr. Cornell sleeping together. And now this morning, Elise being humiliated."

That last example finally shook Sophia from her speechlessness. "Elise? Please. That was just a little spilled wine. It'll wash out."

"Maybe he's not finished with her. We should-"

"Aurora, stop!" Sophia said loudly, barely resisting covering her ears with her hands. "Elvis is not a vengeance demon. My desires for revenge is not so overwhelming that i conjured him all the way from the dark realm!"

"The desire wouldn't have to be overwhelming," Aurora argued. "Because you said the spell aloud. That's all it would take. And now he is possessing you, taking over your mind and your darkest desire-for revenge-and amplifying it, making your most secret wishes come true."

"He's not!"

"You have to be careful, Sophia! You know the consequences of possession by a vengeance demon. All the revenge you wreck through him will come back and fall on you tenfold."

"I'm not wrecking revenge on anyone! And I'm not listening to this anymore, Aurora. It's just crazy!"

Sophia spun around and stalked out of the office, so Furious she could barely see straight. She didn't dispute that the desire spell was the catalyst for Elvis's apportment from the dark realm. But Good God! Her, Sophia, possessed? Wrecking revenge, her darkest desire?

Elvis, a vengeance demon?

Not a chance! None of this was possible. Sophia wasn't exactly sure what her greatest desire was, but one thing was for damn sure. It was not for vengeance.

And she'd show her interfering sister it wasn't. Somehow, some way, once and for all, she'd show her!

"I'm going to kill her! I'm going to wring her neck with my bare hands and choke her until-" Sophia's words cut off in a harsh oath.

Elvis stopped pacing the floor and looked at her. She'd just blown into his room like a full-scale hurricane. He wondered if his fate had been decided and that's what she was upset about.

"What are you saying, honey? What's happened?"

"My sister, that's what's happened! Of all the arrogant, petty, outrageous, maddening-"

He went over to her, unsure if he should touch her or not. She didn't exactly look like she needed a hug. A gun, maybe....

"Come, sit on the bed and tell me."

"I'm too furious to sit." She took his place pacing the floor, arms banded across her middle.

He could feel her fury and bitterness boiling like a toxic volcano in her body. In his body. A moment ago he'd been worried about himself. But it was her he should be worrying about.

She needed to calm down. He'd take care of Aurora. After all, that was his job.

Of course, she didn't know that.
