Rio

The cool metal is hard in my grip, seconds before I sit the golden gun down on the surface of the coffee table. Solemn, and with my jaw clenched, I meet the perceptive glimmering irises of Victoria.

She stands on the other side of the low table, arms folded, keeping her eyes on me. Her brow arches, imperceptibly - in question.

I nod my head briefly, but firm; signaling that it's time. Licking my lips, I then watch her make her way around the coffee table to claim the cushion beside me on the black couch.

"This is serious business, darlin'." I tell her, steadying my gaze on her golden gun upon the table's smooth surface.

Next to me, I hear Victoria take in a low breath. "I hate that this will be the way I'm walking into it." She sighs softly - peering her gaze toward me, I gather, from my peripheral vision.

"I know." I state lowly, finally turning to meet her irises.

But absentmindedly, my gaze trails down to linger on her soft lips.

My own words come rushing back to me quick - and I note that I've gotta keep this state serious. My brown eyes flick up to her own again. I inhale sharply, sweeping my tongue across my lips, and avert my gaze.

"Right now we're waitin' on the boys the call us." I start. "When they do they're gonna tell us when the targeting gang just landed their flight. Some of our men are up there at the port, we've got countless keeping their eye out."

I look at her, again, her glinting irises piercing deep into my own as she curls her lip - picking up exactly what I'm dropping for her to acknowledge. I continue. "Once the flight lands they should be heading somewhere to settle here for who knows how long, like a hotel." I shrug in my black t-shirt.

Keeping my dark irises locked onto hers, I scoot near her, leaning into her slightly tense figure.

"As soon as we know, we're takin' off, sweetheart." I confirm. Briefly sweeping my tongue across my lips for moisture again, my blazing gaze doesn't remove from hers.

"Now when we get there everybody's gonna separate into smaller groups, alright?" My lips part, glancing between either of her light brown eyes intently.

"You're gonna stay with me." I claim.

Victoria purses her pink lips, sending a firm and understanding nod my way. And maybe it's just what I want to see - but I catch it before it can wither from my naked eye - her brown irises glimmering with a deep preparation; her jawline visibly hardens.

She's ready.

Only an hour later, the nonstop, repetitive and excessive noise of a rapid thump, thump, thump - begins all over again.

Sucking in a heavy breath this time, I turn to face the blonde.

"Please, keep tapping..." I state lowly, laced with sarcasm before my jaw clenches in annoyance.

The tapping finally comes to a rather sudden stop.

"You know, I thought it'd be nice to stop by and see my sister here, but I came and..." Ann raises either of her dark brows. "...And you're here, oh, which isn't the problem." She lifts a finger.

"Why is there a gun on the coffee table?!" She pipes, a vein slightly showcasing on her neck when she gestures toward the coffee table.

My lips twitch, and I peer my gaze in the direction of Victoria who stands across from her sister in the kitchen - as I stand between them.

The queen meets my gaze. She swallows softly but it's noticeable, clearing her throat. She looks at her sister.

"Well, you stopped by on the wrong day." Victoria informs calmly.

Blondie sounds a faint humorless laugh from where she stands feet from behind me. I turn to her.

"Yeah, I gathered that." I watch her meet the queen's gaze from past my taller silhouette. Ann seems to share a look with her sister, but I don't quite latch onto it.

"As long as you guys are reminded to stay out of the trouble." She says, more frankly toward her sister.

Victoria doesn't respond, neither do I glance back to face the queen. Instead, Ann slightly nods - a hint of disappointment flickering within her hazel irises.

"Right..." Ann breathes, seconds before peering her gaze over to me.

The green specks in her eyes are pointing fingers, as she watches me.

"I've gotta say I haven't been having the best week, sis. So excuse my grumpiness." She mutters, but never turning or peering over my shoulder to meet her sister's defiant gaze. "I'll call you, OK? I hope when I do you can maybe catch me up to date, if it's a bank robbery this time or something." Blondie adds, following after is a sigh.

I frown, shaking my head. "Nah, banks aren't our thing." I joke, only for her hazel eyes to narrow and send darts - and she spins on her heel; dismissing herself from the kitchen.

I hear her footsteps sound further and further as she heads toward the front door, and I take in a breath and glance behind to look at Victoria.

Not a word flows from my lips, but I send a half nod, shortly before I follow after Ann.

The moment I walk into the living room, the front door is being shut. Within smooth movements I hurry after her, twisting the doorknob to swing the door open.

I step out onto the front porch to see Blondie stomping down the steps. She must hear the front door shut, because she stops in her hurried tracks, turning around.

I momentarily lick my lips and stand folding my hands, when Victoria's sister meets my eyes.
