Victoria

*1 week later*

Rushing into the house and swinging the front door shut behind me, I see Rio from across the foyer; standing upright in front of the refrigerator in his white t-shirt and basketball shorts, his back turned to me.

A wide smile begins tugging at my lips, I run up to him. And he must hear me skipping toward him the closer I approach, from the sudden action he preforms of peering over his shoulder. His chocolate brown irises lock on mine, and I immediately latch onto the glint of curiosity beaming within them when he picks up on my inevitable excitement.

I stop right in front of him, suppressing my mischievous grin by biting my lip, as I hold up a sheet of paper between us. I watch Rio's dark brown eyes study it, a moment.

"What's this?" He asks huskily, before taking it into his grasp. I lick my lips, and take in a breath before I start.

"OK, listen. Back when you got shot..." I say, my pink lips twitching. "I remember the pain and fear that dwelt inside me at just the thought of loosing you. And when Chris had that spare medical equipment I was gifted the chance to save your life. That's when I felt... accomplishment." I explain solemnly. "And I missed that feeling, you know, of having the chance to help others, possibly even save them."

I smile, fixating on the sheet of paper in Rio's firm grasp. "So, what you're looking at is a nursing application!" I present.

Rio's gaze fixes on my own with an all too familiar twinkle, once he processes my words. "Where'd you get this from?" He asks, while I tuck back a strand of my wavy brown hair behind an ear - my hand slightly quivering due to the ongoing excitement.

"It's this huge hospital with over twice the size of medical staff. And of course it's not the same hospital I worked at before, it's in another district not too far from here!" I beam, instinctively jumping up happily.

My brows perch as I wait for a response, watching Rio purse his full lips while he studies the application again. He sounds an intrigued 'hm' before he meets my patient gaze. Rio's lips seem to twitch.

"Have you turned it in yet?" He questions curiously, and I hurriedly shake my head.
"Not yet, I was just about to but wanted to tell you about it first. Why?" I ask.

My fiancé hands me the application, before clearing his throat; the current grin playing about on his full lips resulting my sudden vexation. "Well right before you do I thought we could do something." He says huskily.

"We've had a few ballistic things come up here and there since our engagement. And I never really had the chance to deliver you my engagement present to you." Rio shrugs in his white t-shirt. "Figured I'd give it to you today." He forms a smile, and I feel my heart race wildly in my chest.

Engagement present... I don't how that slipped my mind - but then again as he stated, we've had so much happen between the time period. I haven't gotten Rio anything, yet. But just the intention of getting him something special brings forth excitement.

I grin as the excitement builds up incessantly within me, and I furrow my brows. "What is it?" I fail miserably at taming a sheepish smile.

Rio sweeps his tongue deliberately across his lips, as I watch his eyes flicker down to land on my lips. "I'll show you." He answers lowly, his tone husky and raw as he bites down on his lip. Rio's longing gaze flutters up to mine again. "C'mon." He adds, before moving past me.
