Victoria
The sky is desolate, yet a comforting dark shade - as the clouds are kept away, stars unable to twinkle. Just black.
It's late; striking the time to gather our guns and head out. The plan is for all of this to occur out in the lot, to take down the enemies that are on watch outside first. Then we're sneaking back in the building, to get to their room and make it 'quiet' - that's when we end it. Tonight is when we end them before they can end us.
And I'm ready, I can do it.
My hand grazes the thin white sheeted curtain, pulling it over so I can gain a more clear view of outside, as I gaze out of the wide window.
I can't think of one moment of this evening that I haven't been thinking all of this over. I am ready, yes, but I couldn't help but to wonder if this plan is worth it tonight.
Maybe that's just how I'm going to think, of course, because I'm not a killer - I never was - nor did I ever plan to be.
Self defense, I tell myself. This is just self defense because they intend on making an attempt to put us down first. And I have to own up to that, I can't push aside what I know is possible tonight: I'm gonna pull a trigger and that trigger is gonna end a life.
So yes, I'm trying to tell myself that I'm ready...which is hard.
"Hungry?" A low voice starts behind me, and before I peer over my shoulder I am already aware that it's Rio. He stands feet away from my own frame, watching me quite intently; his dark irises rather twinkling in the moonlight that peeks through the glass in front of me.
I bite my lip gently, turning to face him completely. "No," I whisper, tucking a strand of my brown hair behind an ear, "just tired is all."
"Mhm, tired..." He drags lowly, beginning in deliberate steps toward me. I release a soft breath, noting that the other's are either sleeping before the time comes, or having low discussions about tonight - though they're in the same room of course.
But the gangster and I still contain a bit of privacy, for everyone else is across the room minding their own business.
Rio doesn't attract from my gaze, when he comes to a stop before me. His taller figure is close, very close, as his chest brushes against mine. I flick my irises down to his neck tattoo, that also shines upon the generous moonlight, then back up to his own eyes.
His hand is brought up to near my face, when he tucks another loose strand of hair behind my ear, his eyes gallantly blazing. Curling my lip, I flutter my eyes shut, my heart fluttering at his warm and comforting touch.
Then, he leans in - I can somehow feel him doing so - my eyes still resting. And his soft lips tease me, gently caressing his across my own, and temptation settles to capture his lips in mine. But I suppress the urge.
He makes it hard though, from the feeling of his own teeth tugging at my bottom lip now - his warm hand traveling around to cup my cheek. I carry my hand up to rest it on his shoulder, above his cotton black t-shirt.
It's silent, and it seems like intimacy is the only thing that hangs in the air of this hotel room. Slightly, I stand on my tip toes when I snake my arms around his neck, deliberately - his soft lips still tracing against my own.
He leans in further, if even possible, and his tasty lips find mine at a deeper compassion; pressing himself against me. He breathes lowly and heavily against me, slowly moving his lips on mine.
I kiss him back, carefully, and firmly place my hand upon his hard chest; gently pushing him back. His hungry lips part from my own, and regret immediately surfaces from pulling back, but I know the limits - at least for tonight.
"Rio..." I whisper, my tongue briefly brushing across my lips as if to devour the taste of his own name. I peel open my eyes, watching him. The gangster's eyelids flutter, soon before his chocolate brown eyes flick up to meet my own.
From his latching gaze, a burning fire consumes me, and I suddenly want to kiss him again. In fact, take this somewhere a bit more private.
I release a quiet breath, my hand rested on his rising chest. "I..." I swallow lightly, averting my longing gaze down to his luscious lips again. "I think we should wait, and focus on the more important things around us, tonight..." I whisper against him, meeting his blazing irises.
For a quick moment, it almost looks like his irises flash with a glint of pain, or disappointment, maybe both. And from it, my stomach turns.
He licks his soft lips, slowly this time, before taking a disapproving step back. My arms that were once wrapped around his tattooed neck, drops to either side of me.
I think... I upset him.
But it's true; we have to concentrate on what's happening around us, tonight is important. He knows that.
I search either of his chocolate brown irises, frowning. "Rio,"
"Nah, you're right." He interjects lowly, his tone husky and...pained. He shrugs in his shirt, never averting his gaze from my own.
My pink lips part, as regret floods within me - it's unsettling. "Rio, come on I..."
And just like that, the gangster turns around, his posterior arm tattoos coming to view as his back faces me. Almost suddenly, guilt twists my insides as I watch him walk off.
I run a tired hand through my hair, huffing out a breath, eyes scanning across two of our boy's who are slouched over on the sofa; some light and deep snores sound the room. Others stand with loaded guns in hand, sharing glances.
My eyes peer over to the clock on the wall: 11:48 p.m.
It's almost time. Next door, it's soundless. They must be sleeping.
All I know is that when the clock strikes twelve, we head outside armed, and take out the enemies on watch, as there should be. Then we head inside, and finish it.
