(Set before the apocalypse)

"Come on! Get out of bed now!" A teacher shouted as I refused to move my feet from my bed.
There is no way that she'd boss me around.
"You wish I'd listen to you!"
She grabbed me by my hair and pulled me out of bed.
"You better be glad you're here to get straightened out! You better be thanking your lucky stars I don't beat you as well!"
I glared at her from the floor and she glared back at me.
She walked out of the room and I huffed as i threw my blanket back ok my bed. I got dressed and walked out to get breakfast.
I sat at lunch with a sour attitude and no intention of making it better! That lady ruined my life every morning.
I hated her. With every inch of my being. She claimed I was the worst one yet. But I'd like to say Ruby was the worst.
She would scream and curse and shout and kick.
At least I didn't explode like her. I just stayed quiet and refused.
I never actually did anything bad. I just never did anything.
My parents thought I had become depressed and sent me here to get some life back in me. In reality I just didn't want to do anything.
I sat at the table and ate a pizza as Louis and his friends talked.
Everyone had a crush on Marlon, he was a jock. He did have issues. People say he's bipolar or something like that. At least that's what I've heard.
I looked over at their group as they laughed. People always seemed to be so happy in this shithole and I didn't understand.
I walked up to put my bowl away and the lady came up to me.
"How dare you act so rudely." She scolded.
"Excuse me?" I asked confused.
"You know what you did! Now apologize or you will be punished!"
Everyone was looking at us.
"Ummm.... can I ask what I did?" I shrugged.
"You know! Don't give me lip missy!"
"I didn't give you anything. I asked a question."
She slapped me across the face and everyone gasped. I fell to the ground and she scoffed as she walked away
"Don't you EVER disrespect me like that ever again."
Louis and Marlon ran over to me and helped me up.
"What the hell just happened?" Marlon asked.
"I-i don't know. I just went to put my tray away and she approached me."
Louis held me close to him and he kissed my forehead.
"You're shaking." Marlon noticed.
"Well yeah if you got hit in the face you would be too." I remarked.
Marlon stroked my cheek with his thumb and then got angry.
"That bitch is gonna pay." He turned and walked up to the teacher. He yelled obscenities at her and she was appalled at how many bad words he knew. I cling on tighter to Louis and He cooed and shushed my hics of crying.
"I don't want to be in here." I said shaking my head.
He rushed me out to the hallway where it was instantly quieter.
"Shhh. Calm down y/n." He grabbed me again and shushed as he stroked my head.
"Don't let go of me Louis. Ever."
"I won't even dare."
I huffed getting over my tears and I let go of him.
He grabbed my hand and held it tight, seeming to keep the promise of never letting go.
I turned to him and looked in his eyes.
I leaned in and kissed him softly.
I backed away and he looked dazed.
"Well now I'm definitely not letting go."
I blushed and looked down.
He moved my face to look back at him and he kissed me this time.
I blushed deep as he pulled me closer while still kissing me.
I let go and he smiled like an idiot.
"Come on. Let's go see how much marlon fucked up this time." I said as I pulled him back into the cafeteria.
