We had arrived. We were at an exit. All my weapons were sitting in a pile next to the assassin. As soon as we had rounded that last corner and Peter had said that question they disappeared. Gone into thin air. I walked out of the maze with confidence straight up to the assassin.
"Impressive how many tormentors?"
"Not many."
"Tired?"
"Not even close."
"Good."
"I bet it is."
It was quick short dialogue it ended with The Assassin clicking his fingers at my weapons. I picked them up and adjusted them into my clothes and more importantly in my possession.
As soon as The Assassin's eyes diverted away from me I let a deep breathe out. I held my head lower than previously and I put all my will into keeping thoughts out of my head. It strained my head and my abdominal muscle to try and keep them out. As we walked it was awkward. It took physical strength to keep this mental thing out. It confused me but at least that's where my thoughts were and not on what I was keeping out.
Or at least trying too.
"Your last test will be to demonstrate three kills. We will then return to Cottage and you will return to your quarters. It is there you shall stay until I call upon you for either one or two things. One being if I have decided a name. And the second being if I have a job for you."
"Question."
"Your curiosity better not step over the line, my dear."
"How will people learn my name and know when I kill?"
"Firstly it is word of mouth. Which I shall start. A whisper can make a huge background story for you. You can be given credit for kills that no one wants to admit or understands. That can be both good and bad but that is how it spreads."
"Secondly?"
"The trick is to not let me know. You want to be good with every weapon and element I know that. That is exactly the way to go. Leaving them guessing you create a silent name that way. It will be best for you to have a silent name before I begin to whisper your own. Reason being you may get a name. Then you can choose between mine and the name the shadows have given you."
"Okay."
"Your curiosity has no more questions or queries Miss Drouin?"
"Not currently."
My curiosity is something that The Assassin had spoken about before with me. It was a short conversation but it involved so many questions that he ended the conversation on the account that his head hurt. It wasn't unbelievable or unreasonable. My head hurt from the running thoughts.
He was quite humorous at times. Others he was stern. He was a man of many personalities that could change with the wind. I however seemed to have two personalities visible.
Curious and -
I'm not sure how to classify the other side other than Assassin. But that was a million personalities in one person.
"Your thinking again Miss Drouin. I suggest that you do not and that you focus on the kills."
"And be unique."
He clicked his fingers and a masked figure appeared from behind a tree. I sensed his presence following us and numerous times I had turned around to find him. I had eventually told myself not too worry and that it may just be Pan but it was not in fact.
