Getting over the gate was something other than a success. My burning arm managed to snag on the fence as the assassin gained enjoyment.

"Your the worst assassin I've ever seen."

"You think this determines whether I will be good or not."

"Your quite right it doesn't, it justifies as to whether you will be or not."

"Big words don't change anything Sir."

"Oh but they do you see I can say henceforth the argument has concluded as I no longer intend to be included."

"So you like words, your a flirt, and a deadly assassin did I miss anything else?"

"I sure hope it's not contagious." I smiled agreeably. He simply turned on his heels and strides away.

"Must I really insist that you follow." I did just that, but at my own pace.

"Would you mind explaining to me why you tried to kill me with your many hilarious tricks?" I stomped on the pebbles after him. We were still surrounded by clouds but there were pebbles. It was completely unusual. He was avoiding eye contact and my burning arm. In this breeze I felt it immensely. Pain. I was such a wuss. Agh.

"It is much like a spiders web." He said very plainly. For an oldish man I could see that he could still be an assassin. However he is not none for his notorious ways anymore. He has disappeared and things.

"Explanation required." I insisted impatiently I needed him to talk so my mind wouldn't rave away. He acted as though he had all the time in the world and it irritated me immensely.

"I suppose I should then say imagination required."

"It's here." I slouched in annoyance. Would he get to the point?

"Good. Now stop being so grumpy Lady Drouin especially while your face is so dry it isn't recommended." He had nerve. Serious nerve. But then again he knew he was the best. He didn't doubt it. And I didn't doubt that he would beat me. I had to know when to pick my fights. And this was one I had to back down out of. Which I did. Courteously.

"So a spiders web you were saying?" I prompted him. Politely.

"Ah yes. You see that gate is like a Spider's Web. A spider knows when there web has been touched or when it has trapped a fly. It must then hurry to make its way over to that particular strand or strands of web to ensure it doesn't fly away." He gestured with his hand for me to tell him my understanding of how it connected to the gate.

"So you knew which pair I was on each time. You activated the trap or threat each time you knew I had changed. Impressive."

"Yes and I had to be the fast little spider to try and set them off and try to catch you or serious maim or injure you before you made it to another pair."

"Well there is an enormous fault in that side of the plan I must say." I added as a snide comment. His shoulders sagged slightly, noticing his defeat. After a not very long silence he brought his shoulders back up to show his pride and dominance then he spoke.

"Well Mackenzie I think it is a fair to say that you have done well so far. This as you know is the third test after this, one more to go. So now I ask you this, do you like mazes?"

"It depends does it include stone, hedge, cursed." I said cheekily my fingers were almost crossed so that it didn't.

"Oh good so you will love this one. As you should be well aware I no longer really care for your safety and after these tests your recovery is entirely up to you. Training will run as usual. Injured seriously maimed or dying. Don't turn up And I will hunt you down. Simple"

"Well you know where I live." I cheeked.
