"How's your niece, it's been a while since I've heard of her." Vlad asked, Denki scratching his head as he filed through the paperwork the older had provided him with.
"She's doing fine, getting better medication and doing well in online classes." Denki spoke with a smile, "I just hope she's mentally okay, she hasn't been to school and seen her friends in so long."
"You did say she was bedridden, send her my regards." Vlad consoled, his baring teeth showing off a grin.
"I'll try."
Denki couldn't help but feel upset, he was in the top university after all - why would he be upset.
He had a chance to have everything, in fact he still does, but the blood, sweat, and tears that it took to even step foot in Yuuei was challenging.
The blonde could distinctly remember when he had brought the idea up to his parents, his 15 year old self reluctant to even knock on their bedroom door.
The backyard was too cold to sleep in that night, but Denki persevered.
Then his siblings began to exclude him, all turning their backs when dad called him a disappointment. He was the second eldest, he should've known his place then.
He was supposed to be inheriting Denki Electronics, the top competitor in Japan's digital prospect. He could've been rich, had an honorable lady, had his name in the papers.
Yet here he was, in the halls of the freshman department hesitating to open his classroom door.
He was hoping to be a television host, that one show that stayed late night and his quirky self wearing a suit half of the time and pajamas another. Denki wanted to prove something, yet with every occurrence that involved his family, he was scared they'd push him into hiding.
His mother is a smart woman, nails always clean and goal cemented in her head, lips rouge as they spoke words of superiority.
His father is a proud being, suit always ironed and tone heavy like an anvil, figure shiny just like his shoes.
"Fuck." Denki muttered to himself as he fiddled with a strand of his blonde bangs.
He's stupid.
