(this is me running away from all of you lesbians who read this fucking book)
Hitoshi can see Kaminari's breath stop, unknowingly watching his adam's apple bob with a nervous swallow and reddish-rimmed eyes darting to the side as he took the book into shaking hands.
"Tell me Kaminari, are you okay?" Don't get him wrong, the insomniac was just here for some coffee and kept the book in the cupboard because he honestly didn't know where to put it.
He watches Kaminari's lips form into voiceless words, trying to find something to say or a joke to throw everything off but he knows that Hitoshi already knows.
"I.. I'm not feeling well if that's what you're asking." The blonde spoke, swirling the sugar in his cup of tea. "I've just been, going through things for a while and kind of— running away."
Hitoshi finds it weird that he listens, perches himself on a stool and just keep an ear and eye on Kaminari, taking his words into consideration.
"I've wanted to see a therapist for a while, but I just never found it in me to arrange anything. Even stepping outside makes me scared that they'll drag me back and probably kill me." His gold eyes grow dull at the thought and the insomniac has to stop himself from seeing the dead that's already in Kaminari.
"Who's they? Don't sound like friendly people coming from you." The hazelnut coffee is bitter, but he takes a sip anyway and notices how Kaminari's fingers tremble.
"My family," he confirms for Hitoshi, "they haven't been the nicest of people."
It doesn't surprise the purple-haired man, but it doesn't make him happy either. The look on the blonde's face is hurt and conflicted, like a child that watches their pet die. It's tough to watch Kaminari hold in his breath.
"I.. should hate them, for a lot of things in my life." Kaminari admits, cradling his tea. "They took a lot from me and even getting here on UA campus was terrifying."
"You mind explaining?" Hitoshi can see tears in Kaminari's eyes and holds himself back from hugging him.
"You're willing to listen?" His voice trembles and he sounds terrified, as if he's never told anyone about anything.
"We have all night." Hitoshi reassures, "and I'm sure no one will be coming down here anytime soon."
Kaminari nods, lightly smiling before he begins the horror story.
