Denki felt sick, maybe he's drowning.
Cradling the warm cup of cocoa, the blonde stared into the movie that he'd watched so many times.
It was Mulan, a movie that surprisingly - he felt he could relate to.
Except Mulan's family still loved her.
Denki wasn't okay, he acknowledged that. When he got that condescending letter, restricting his visits to that little girl that shared his adoration, he felt his consciousness crumble.
It was like those nights in the shivering cold, or maybe the nights when the pantry began to lock itself. He was alone again.
"Hey.. Denks I know it hurts." Mina's voice was so enrapturing, so tempting to just accept.
But what if she didn't want to hang out with him anymore? What if he's making a mistake?
"Yeah, take deep breaths - we're here for you." Izuku's voice was just as tempting, but somehow his fingertips couldn't reach them.
In the dark consciousness of Denki Kaminari, he'll always be tossed outside - he'll always be stupid, he'll always be nothing compared to the people around him. And when these voices constantly consoled him, they fueled how heavy Denki's legs would get.
He'll get left behind.
The blonde stared empty, the hot drink wafting sweetness into his nostrils.
He'll get left behind.
Mulan was at the part where she embraced her father, gifting him with the sword of Shan Yu and the medallion that the Emperor has given her.
And he willingly hugged Mulan with a love that Denki once saw in his parents.
A love that he found in Pika.
A love that he'll never get back.
"He's asleep." Mina muttered, almost to herself as she brushed through the man's long fringe with a comb that seemed like instinct.
Izuku couldn't help it sometimes, and despite his morals; he wanted to shake the blonde awake and tell him that he was worth so much and everything he's doing now will put forward so much in the future. To cuss him out and tell him how great his future will be.
"He's asleep." Izuku repeated assuringly, placing his and Kaminari's mugs to the side. "He's really asleep."
Izuku wanted to be a hero, but for Denki - he couldn't. But he'll try.
