Hitoshi sat through it and sipped his coffee, listening to Kaminari's voice; mellow and almost heartbroken about every detail in the tale.

It was sort of shocking, but the insomniac allowed himself to hold Kaminari's shoulder close in a halfhearted hold— kinda out of bounds in his usual attitude but the blonde was spilling his whole life trauma, Hitoshi would forever lend comfort to the man.

He didn't shed a tear throughout the story, maybe more disappointed because who forces their child sleep outside? Hitoshi hummed to show he was still attentive, watching the blonde pick at his nails or pop his knuckle, just watching everything except the purple-haired male beside him.

"—and that's it.. my struggle I guess."

"Not to be an ass or anything, but they killed your childhood pet in front of you, on your birthday, because you wished that you didn't have to inherit the company?" Hitoshi stared at Kaminari with shock, because he's never heard of such disgusting behavior from parents.

"Yeah, they did." The blonde murmured into Hitoshi's shoulder, "they did a lot, and I'm upset about it."

"You're upset about it now? I would send them to hell!" The insomniac felt shivers from Kaminari's breath against his neck, though he focused on understanding him. "Purely demons— how do you live like that?"

"There's a difference between living and being alive, Shinsou.." Kaminari's eyes glazed at his tea, which settled thinly at the bottom of his mug. "I think I've only been alive."

Whatever that meant, Hitoshi comfortingly rubbed the blonde's head softly with his fingers— running his fingers through the locks like he would with cats. With the way that Kaminari's eyes fluttered halfway, Hitoshi could almost feel the blonde purring with contentment.

"Do you plan to do anything about it?"

A strange question yes, but Hitoshi could see the way Kaminari shivered— as if he was scared.

"No, no. I might consider therapy but there's nothing I can do about it. I've been shunned— embarrassed, assaulted, abused." Kaminari pulled away and stared dead into the insomniac's eyes, "I'm not a coward Shinsou, but I know what battles are worth fighting."

The purple-haired male stared back for seconds, sighing bitterly before tugging the blonde close once again.

"Coward or not, they fucked you up— say something at least."

"What do I say? 'Oh hey it's me, the son you disowned— but I just came to say that what you did was not cool'?" The blonde entertained the idea with exhaustion, "don't make me laugh dude, I've tried a lot of things."

Hitoshi felt the blonde pull away, eyes tired and hair deflated, body exhausted.

"Goodnight Shinsou."

The insomniac watched Kaminari slowly begin to step away, though he stood up as well and took an axe to his pride.

He could feel the blonde's breath get caught in his throat as he hugged him from behind gently, just to emphasize that—

"You can talk to me you know," Hitoshi offered, "we're friends."
