The next day, Chan came to the café again. Immediately spotting Y/n, he called out to her.
"Hey, Y/n! Guess who couldn't resist the prospect of more cookies?"
A laugh escaped her lips, making him feel all fuzzy inside. In reality, he had come back because he'd wanted to see her again. Her cute giggle and teasing smile had him hooked. Although he had to admit the cookies were pretty damn good too.
"Hiya Chan, how are you?"
"Great now that I've seen you and the cookies are within reach." She chuckled and Chan felt like he had won something, knowing that he had put that infectious smile on her face. "Although I'm curious to know why you called me Chan when I told you yesterday my name was Chris."
"Oh yeah... I'm a fan - surprise!"
He smirked. "Well this makes things even better." Y/n frowned in confusion but before she could ask what he meant, Chan quickly ordered and said with a wink as he paid, "There you go baby girl." She scoffed in response but he noted that her cheeks were lightly dusted with pink. He swaggered over to his table, proud that he'd managed to fluster her again and sat down to tuck into his cookie and coffee.
Just as he was getting comfortable, the café doors opened and Felix walked in. Chan started in surprise at his sudden appearance but Felix hadn't noticed Chan yet - he only had eyes for Y/n. His expression softened as he beheld her struggling to wrestle the lid off a jar. He approached and asked with his eyebrows raised, "You alright there?"
"Felix!" Y/n gasped in surprise and almost dropped the jar. Shaking away her shock, she grimaced at the jar "almost... got it..." she muttered. With a loud pop the lid came flying off and hit the wall on the other side of the café. Felix and Y/n burst into uncontrollable laughter, overjoyed to be with each other again. Everything seemed hilarious when they were together. After getting his caramel macchiato, Felix began heading over to his favourite corner spot when he heard Chan shout his name and gesture him over. Unexpected as this was, Felix obeyed and came to sit with his friend.
"You come here too huh?" Chan questioned, "Have you tried these cookies? They're amazing!"
"No I haven't actually but I've had the brownies and they're pretty incredible too."
After a few minutes of chatting, Chan had drained his drink. "Do you know where the bathroom is?" he queried Felix, who shook his head. "Yo Y/n!" he called and she came over to their table. Felix frowned. Did Chan know Y/n too? How close were they for him to be calling her so casually? Having asked Y/n where the bathroom was, he disappeared round the back of the café. Y/n turned to go but Felix grabbed her wrist, twisting her back to him.
"How long have you known Chan?" he interrogated accusingly, there was a mixture of anger and hurt in his eyes. Is he jealous? Y/n thought but quickly banished the thought from her mind. He was probably just shocked and confused.
"Umm, like a day. I bumped into him yesterday and we chatted for a bit. That's all. Why are you acting so mad?"
Realising he was being unreasonable and worried that he'd upset Y/n, he hurriedly released her and apologised, running a hand through his soft hair in distress (which made him look attractively dishevelled).
"Sorry, it was just so unexpected. I haven't offended you, have I?"
Y/n smiled sweetly at him and placed a hand over his to comfort him, "Of course not Lix. I'm still struggling to comprehend everything too."
Hearing her call him that nickname for the first time caused his heart flutter and their touching hands made his stomach do flips. Why did she have such an effect on him? He couldn't understand. Chan returned and slung an arm over Y/n's shoulders, looking eager to join in the conversation.
"What are we talking about?"
"I was just saying how crazy it was that I've met the both of you here in this café."
"Yeah, it is pretty insane." Chan agreed, "Hey Felix, we should bring the other members here too so that they can try the snacks and appreciate Y/n's amazing barista skills."
They all laughed at this but Felix wasn't sure how he felt about the others coming here too. On the one hand, it would be nice for Y/n to meet them and for them all to be friends but on the other, he had grown accustomed to thinking of this place and Y/n as his special little retreat. He shook his head imperceptibly to clear his mind. He was being silly. This place wasn't his and neither was Y/n. It would be fun to share it all with the members and he just knew that Y/n would fit right in with their trouble-making antics.
Later, when the two Aussies were leaving, Felix paused outside the doors. "Go ahead Chan, I've just got to go back for my phone, I think I left it there."
Felix had not, in fact, left his phone behind but he did have a plan. Upon re-entering the café he subtly slipped his phone out of his pocket. Taking a deep breath, he tapped Y/n on the shoulder and quickly said: "HeysoIwasthinkingmaybeIcouldgetyournumber?"
"Whoa slow down there Felix hun, I have no idea what you just said."
He squared his shoulders and repeated with more confidence, "So I was thinking maybe I could get your number? That way we could speak to each other more often."
"Oh yeah, sure! I'd love that." Y/n replied happily and they swapped numbers. Before running off, Felix thanked her with a goofy grin and gave her a big hug. His warmth enveloped her and she found herself leaning into his touch. He turned his head so that his lips were right by her ear and he murmured, "Lets talk later."
