And just like she promised, Adora came back the next day. She was a little bit earlier this time as she now knew where Catra was being kept and hopefully, she'd be able to talk to her for longer.

She wasn't sure why she was so excited about seeing her again, maybe it was the rush of adrenaline that came from sneaking around the castle late at night, or perhaps it was the fact that she got to see Catra locked up where she belongs...

No, that definitely wasn't it

Once again, the guard wasn't that hard to persuade to let her talk to the feline. And when they were left alone, Adora was greeted by a not so friendly, "ugggghhh. What do you want?"

"I just wanna talk to you again" the blonde stated as she sat down in front of the cell

"Well I don't want to talk to you so bye Adora" she said, trying to wave Adora off like she was some pest

"Catra please... I won't be long" Adora pleaded as her lips curved into a small frown

Catra stared at her for a few seconds before rolling her eyes and huffing an annoyed "whatever"

Adora smiled as she took a seat on the ground and cleared her throat. She didn't know what to say as she began to twiddle her thumbs in her lap and and look anywhere but at the person in front of her "so uhh... how are you?"

"Well I'm alive, so that's good... I guess" said catra while she examined her nails as if they were the most interesting thing in the world

The two sat in a painfully awkward silence for a few minutes until Adora spoke up again "I uhh... best get going" she exclaimed while standing up "rebellion things to do ya know?"

Catra's eyebrows furrowed "at this time of night?" She asked as she stood up as well "just how hard do you work"

Adora's lips moved up into a small smile "there's a lot of responsibilities that comes with being a princess I guess" she stated as she started to walk away "see you tomorrow?"

Catra let out a noise which Adora assumed was an 'okay' before she strolled off for the night

Adora came back day after day, week after week and slowly, the two talked a lot more. Their conversations extended and the awkward silences became less frequent. Catra became more intrigued as Adora told stories about her adventures, and the blonde enjoyed listening to the kinds of things catra and Scorpia got into back in the horde

But there was one moment Adora would never forget- the moment when she made her former best friend laugh. And it wasn't a laugh that came from Catra when Adora was in agony or losing a battle. It was a laugh that came from Catra when she was happy

Or at least, somewhat happy

。。。

During one of her nightly visits, Catra was in the middle of telling a story on how one of Entrapta's robots had chased Kyle around the Fright Zone, when Adora suddenly interrupted her "do you... remember when we caught those two older cadets kissing in a supply closet a few years back.... when we were 16?"

Catra's eyes squinted at the question before she replied "yeah, what about it?"

All of a sudden, Adora became flushed as she spoke "do you remember what happened after?" She enquired
