Y/N's POV
I stared at the black haired girl in front of me in awe. Memories that I didn't want to remember came flooding back into my mind. Esang stared at me with confusion, like she didn't remember me.
"Yes?" she asked. "Who are you?"
I stumbled back and stuttered, "O-oh, I guess you don't remember. It's fine, it was a long time ago anyway."
The truth is, that Esang was my old classmate in grade school. She was one of those popular girls who always got want they wanted because they were beautiful, which Esang was definitely beautiful. She had boys falling for her left and right and it was quite entertaining to see little boys trying to impress a 3rd grader.
But the most distinct memory I have with her was when I brought my favorite stuffed animal, a stuffed otter, to school and showed it to Esang.
And then it was gone.
I knew she was the one. She stole it. She was the only one I showed because I wanted her to like me. And then when I came home crying, no one was home. The worst part was that she brought it the very next day to show to her own friends.
I snapped out of my daydream when Mackie nudged my arm with his. "Huh, what?" I spluttered.
I looked around to see Esang talking with an uncomfortable-looking Keifer. I turned my head back to a concerned Mackie.
"What?" I asked.
He sighed and said, "You were dazed and looked a little sad. Are you okay?" Mackie rested a hand on my shoulder, making me feel the bullet holes Esang was staring into my back.
"I'm fine," I mumbled, shaking off his hand.
Mackie seemed to drop the subject when the bell rang. Esang walked over to us and hugged Mackie, which made him cringe. I snickered a little, making Esang turn to me.
She looked me up and down and then said, "Oh yeah, I remember you now! You're the girl who wanted to steal my otter plushie and cried about it!"
I shook my head in disbelief at the fake story she made up with. I was about to protest but she cut me off.
"Anyways, I should go Mack. Don't have fun without me," Esang smiled, shooting me a glance before she left to her classroom.
I was put into Mackie's classroom because of the family relations we had, which were literally just living in the same house together because we weren't related at all.
As I followed him to the class, Mackie asked me a question. "How do you know Esang? You two didn't seem like friends at all."
I shrugged, "We were classmates in grade school, so I don't think we count as friends. Especially after what she did." I mumbled the last part.
Mackie looked like he was thinking. "She talked about an otter toy? What was that about?" he asked.
"I'll tell you when we get home, so don't worry too much Mackie," I said.
Mackie's POV
Y/N gave me a small smile, but it had a weird fakeness to it. I didn't pry any longer and let her walk into the classroom and speak with the teacher. I walked in after her and to my seat which was near the back.
Mrs. Pamatigan, our teacher, stepped in front of the class saying she had an announcement about a new student. Y/N stepped out and smiled, which made me go slightly dizzy.
She introduced herself, "Hi, I'm uh Y/N L/N. I just transferred to this area yesterday and I now live with one of my new friends. Please take care of me." She bowed her head slightly as her eyes met mine. The intense stare from her eyes made a blush creep up my neck.
Mrs. Pamatigan then said, "Yes, very good. Y/N lives with our very own Mackie Empuerto. So please welcome her." Some of the other kids made a gasping noise as some turned around to meet my eye.
"Y/N please go sit in the empty desk next to Mackie. And Mackie, show her around campus today," the teacher added.
I nodded and Y/N made her way over to the desk to my left. She sat down and nudged my shoulder. I looked at her and she grinned back at me. I looked away with pink tinted ears.
What is happening to me?
