*Present Day*
Y/N POV
I sighed as I waited by the school's front gate. The school day just ended and Mackie said to wait for him because he had something to do first.
My thoughts drew back to the awkward event at lunch.
Keifer amd Francis seemed to immediately tense up when Esang walked over to the table, especially when she went over to only talk to Mackie. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught them giving each other a look that didn't seem all too good. I couldn't help but worry.
Mackie looked so remorseful when Esang walked away.
I groaned when the weird burning feeling in my chest returned, the same one I got from lunch.
After lunch, Mackie seemed to return to normal but just a little less energetic, but that seems ordinary because everyone feels like that after lunch. Right?
I waved off my thoughts when I saw Mackie running towards me. He smiled when he saw me waiting.
"Hey Y/N! Sorry, did I make you wait long?" he slightly panted from running.
I returned his smile and answered, "No, I just got here around 10 minutes ago. What did you have to do?"
Mackie grinned nervously and rubbed the back of his neck. "I was just talking to Keifer and Francis about going out this weekend. We wanted to go to the mall to buy new clothes."
He gestured for us to start walking on the trail, the one leading us back to his house. We started talking about random things about ourselves. I quickly learned that Mackie really liked the chicken place called Jollibee, has starred in a movie, and even has a world tour coming up.
"Wow, Mack! Your life is insane! I couldn't imagine being in the place you're in right now," I gasped in awe.
Mackie blushed and nudged my arm, "I mean, everything came so quickly. I really wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my family and friends. They really helped me through everything."
The way his eyes sparkled when he mentioned the people he loved made my heart flutter. I clenched my fists and looked down as unusual heat became to flood through my face.
Before I could respond, Mackie's hand grazed past mine, blazing my blush even more.
"Watch out, Y/N!" I heard him scream. Before I could react quick enough, I was pulled by a strong arm and started falling onto the floor.
Realizing I was falling, I pushed my hands out forward to brace myself for the impact. Luckily, it never came.
I opened my eyes, which instantly widened at what I saw. I felt the hand around my waist tighten and another hand holding my arm firmly. I looked up to find Mackie's blushing but worried face. I looked around and saw a biker swerving around on the road, probably the thing I should've watched out for.
Mackie's eyes softened when he locked eyes with me again. Without realizing it, my hands slowly relaxed and rest themselves upon Mackie's shoulders.
I suddenly snapped out of the trance his beautiful eyes were pulling me in, as I scrambled to stand upright, which only caused him to pull me closer to his chest out of panic.
The heat from before crawled its way back up to my face and I even saw a little blush flutter onto Mackie's ears.
He finally let go and I finally stood upright.
"Well, uh, we better get going. We're almost to the house," he stuttered, nervously.
I nodded, still having my eyes glued down to my shoes. We started walking again, as the unsettling aura faded away when we started randomly talking again.
Before I knew it, we were standing in front of the house. I was about to walk in but Mackie stopped me.
"Hey, Y/N?" he asked. I nodded for him to go on. "Keifer, Francis, and I were thinking that if you were free, then you would maybe like to come with us on the weekend?"
I remembered about his plans with the other two boys. They seemed nice, and maybe this would be a good way to get closer to Mackie and them.
I smiled and nodded, "Yeah, sure! I don't really have plans since it's only my first week here." He laughed and smiled a satisfied smile.
He nudged his head, signaling me to go inside the house. Inside, I put down my bag and took off my shoes. Mackie followed me upstairs and when I turned to go to my room, he grabbed my arm once again.
Seriously, why does he keep stopping me?
"Where are you going?" Mackie asked, letting go of my arm.
I tilted my head to the side and answered, "To my room?"
He laughed a little at my obvious confusion. Then he grabbed my arm once again and practically dragged me to his room. I didn't struggle because I was still in shock at the feeling of his hand on my arm.
"What are you doing, Mackie?" I uttered. He opened the door to his room and pulled me inside. My arm started to sting a little and I winced, causing him to let go.
"Sorry Y/N. Are you okay?" he asked. I nodded slowly as I looked around his room.
The walls were lined with different trophies and some medals. Other than that, there was a picture of Mackie with Keifer and Francis. Others were of his family.
"Why did you drag me here?" I said, turning my body to face him again.
Mackie grinned back at me, "We still have a lot to talk about."
