Imagine: Alex sticks up for Bilbo when he confesses to stealing the Arkenstone. Seeing this as her own betrayal, Thorin yells and lashes out at her before accidentally throwing / pushing her from the very high wall. Alex survives, though she stays unconscious for a while. What happens during that time??

Alex's P.O.V

I couldn't stand by and watch Thorin yell and glare at Bilbo - who had just admitted to stealing the Arkenstone and handing it over to Bard, Thranduil and Gandalf; I can't stay I blame him, nor disagree with any of the words he has spoken. Thorin had changed upon our arrival to Erebor. I had noticed his long and many hours in the treasury; it was as if he was obsessed with the gold. Then there was the fact that he was snapping at nearly everyone, even within his own Company. And he had even confided to me of his anger and worry that one of his loyal dwarves had indeed stolen the Arkenstone. Turns out he had only partly right with that as it wasn't a loyal dwarf, but their loyal hobbit. Just as the king cornered the small creature near the edge of the wall, my patiences and worry finally snapped as I hurried towards the two and forced my way inbetween them, pushing Thorin away. "That's enough!!" I yelled out, my voice sterm and serious; I could hear a sigh of relief come from Bilbo as he gladly hid behind me. As I returned Thorin's hard glare with a plain stare, I exclaimed that he needed to calm down "should Bilbo have stolen the arkenstone and given it to Bard, Gandalf and Thranduil?? I don't know" I sighed "but he's not wrong...you've changed Thorin and...not in a good way". He attempted to yell again but I cut him off, speaking over him which managed to shut him up....though not for long. I listed off all of the things he had done that the Thorin I had met months before would never have even thought of doing "well maybe if I didn't have traitors within my Company, I wouldn't have to change!!" he snarled; I shook my head "no Thorin...Bilbo didn't betray you but whatever's going on up there in your head is making you believe that". Dear god, the glare I was receiving was so harsh and intense - if looks could kill, I believe the saying is, I would be ten feet under by now.

"You!!" he spat the word as if it was poison "you have betrayed me as well!! Haven't you?!" my eyes widened at the sudden and untrue accusation "excuse me?!" I'm sure my voiced revealed the horror and surprise by his words. He began to slowly come closer, forcing me to step back in order to keep some form of space between us; I grabbed onto Bilbo's arm and pushed him away and towards Kili and Fili who I knew and trusted to keep him safe - or at least to get the poor hobbit away from their enraged uncle. "You have betrayed me!! You support the halflings actions!! You are as much a thief than he is!!" he exclaimed, startling everyone around even further as he continued to approach me; I wasn't unaware of how close I was to the edge of the wall, as well as the fact that I was running out of stone to walk on. "T...Thorin...I would never betray you...come on!! You know that!!" I insisted, holding my hands out to show I would never mean him any harm "you betrayed me!! You support the actions of a thief who stole from me!!" he glared "you are nothing to me any longer!!". Now that....that stung. "You...you don't mean that....you're just upset" I stated as my gaze fell to the floor; the king huffed out a bitter laugh "you would be better to me dead!!" he spat. The worst part about that statement was the...the truth laced within his strong voice; my chest hurt from such harsh words - words I had wished to never ever hear from the dwarf they had just come from. I wasn't winning this arguement. All of a sudden, a voice from down below could be heard calling up "now now Thorin!!" it was Thranduil "no need to be so harsh and rude to the young woman" you could practically hear the smirk on the elves face through his voice "after all, she has helped and saved you and your Company more times then I'm sure you'd like to admit". He...well he wasn't exactly wrong. Even Thorin had admitted it, though that was before....before all of this and the changes.

Hesitantly, Thorin began to turn away as I felt myself actually run out of stone; one more step back and I was well and truely screwed. "You're nothing...to me or my Company...only a traitor" he glared over his shoulder; I couldn't leave it there, not with that being the last thing say between us "there's nothing else left to be said" was all he would say as I called out his name. Sighing, I reached out to gently grasp the dwarf king's shoulder as I repeated his name "Thorin, please" as soon as my hand made contact with his shoulder, however, it was as if my skin had burnt him - even through his armor and clothes. Thorin completely lashed out as his arm shot out as he spun around, hitting me in the process as I pulled away from the king; his sudden single attack was a startling and wide eye surprise, as well as extremely hard and forceful as I knew I would be greeted with some multi-coloured bruises across my arm and stomach later on. But that was hardly a worry or concern, especially concidering my more...urgent matter. Due the the hard and painful blow I had received from Thorin, I had lost my balance; my arms, even whilst one was hurting, flailed in an attempt to regain my loss of balance - even to grip onto something nearby that could help. But to no avail, I felt myself begin to fall to the floor....only to remember and realise that I was right at the edge of the wall!! As my feet slipped over the edge, my eyes widened and my heart dropped as I began to fall backwards; I managed to someihow notice how everyone elses eyes widened as well - even Thorin's glare morphed into a look of horror. Letting out an ear piecing scream as I began to fall from the top of the wall, I could hear people yelling out my name; some of the dwarves, as well as Bilbo, attempted to rush to the side and grab me in order to pull me back up but they were too late. I was falling at such a speed that they would have had no hope in pulling me away from the doom I was now facing. Amongst the yells, I could also hear those who were on the ground - specifically Gandalf, Bard and Thranduil exclaiming my name. My heart raced as I fell down the nearly two hundred to three hundred feel drop, my breathing pattern was all over the place as I tried to gain my breath and I watched with fear struck eyes as the ground grew closer and closer. As tears.....well they didn't exactly fall because as soon as they left my eyes, they flew off the side of my face as I fell....so as my tears left my eyes, I hurried to close them and attempted to curl up into a ball. This...this was it.
