Imagine: whilst Alex is both unarmed and injured, the rest of the Company are busy fending off the many orcs that had attacked them on the outskirts of Mirkwood. Three orcs attempt to attack Alex when, before they could kill her, someone jumped in to save and protect her - Legolas.

Alex's P.O.V

This wasn't good. One minute, the company and I were walking around the outskirts, laughing and talking together. The next, we were in the middle of fighting against more orcs than I had ever seen in one place; everyone, including Bilbo, was doing their fair share of fighting against the blood thirsty creatures. Though he was the one who was struggling the most so I took it upon myself to purposely stay close and protect him; it was a stuggle, even with my advanced fighting skills. There was just far too many orcs for us. Out of the corner of my eye, however, I noticed how four orcs were advancing on Bilbo who had been disarmed, looking terrified as he watched with wide eyes how the orcs above him prepared to bring their weapons down upon him. Before they could, however, I rushed over and blocked the attacks with my sword, pushing and kicking them away as I stepped in front of him; I managed to slash one of the orcs throats before he stumbled over the edge of the cliff....which I only just realised we were only a couple of feet away from. As I protected Bilbo from being beheaded by an spike riddled axe, I felt a hard and strong foot hit me in the back with such a painful force that, before I could quickly regain my balance and continue to fight back, found myself falling over the edge of the cliff head first with a scared and horrified yell. The cliff was steep and covered in bolders, rocks, grass, mud and trees - all of which I either crashed into or landed on as I rolled down; I somehow managed to hear Bilbo yell out for me, though his voice fades the further down I fell. Screaming and grunting as I hit against the scenery around me, I felt my body hurt and ache from the assault it was being put through; I'm sure I must be covered in cuts and gashes already, not to mention I'll probably be painted in bruises within an hours time. And my head was already beginning to hurt like hell from the multiple of times that I had hit it, even though I had instinctively rose my arms up to protect it.

After what felt like hours - it must have actually been maybe a couple of minutes - I felt the speed of my painful fall begin to ease until finally, I came to a stop as the ground evened out. Groaning, I slowly pushed myself up and onto my back as I took a few deep breaths in order to calm my racing heart, as well as hopefully ease the pain I was feeling; I could hear the company continuing their battle, but there was something else. Someone was yelling.....Bilbo maybe?? Whoever it was, I could hear them yelling the words "they're coming after you!!" which only confused me more with my; who was he talking about?? Who was coming after me?? Less than a second passed before it hit my mind - the orcs....the same three orcs that had slid down the steep cliff and were running right for me, their weapons raised high as they prepared to strike. Reaching around for my sword which I must have dropped at some point during the fall, I was horrified to find nothing; I remembered I had my dagger in the side of my boot and quickly gripped onto the handle, pulling it up in time to block one of the orcs blades from impaling through my chest before kicking another orc away. This really wasn't an ideal situation. Lay on the ground, injured and in pain with three orcs looming over me, ready and happily willing to put an end to my life - all the while the rest of the company were too far away and busy dealing with their own attacks to help. My thoughts were interrupted by a nasty orc's foot kicking me in the side, forcing me to cry out in pain as that part of my body was already hurting; I soon felt my arm be stamped upon, earning yet another pained scream as my dagger dropped from my once tight grip. I was in serious trouble now. No weapons. No advantages. Hell, I'm not even on my feet!! And I was surrounded by three orcs......dear god, someone help me out!! With wide eyes, I watched as the orc that was closest to me rose his weapon once again and was a mere second away from ending my life, but before he could do so, however, an arrow through the head stopped and forced the alarmed orc to the ground beside me as it let out its last breath. Wait.....huh??
