Imagine: Alex's hair has grown a lot during her journey but it is making seemingly simple things difficult. It gets to the point where she is forced to ask for help from the Company's leader - he helps in more than one way. As well as adds a secret which only he and his fellow dwarves understand.
Alex's P.O.V
I can't take it anymore!! My hair is too long!! It was continuously getting in my eyes, getting trapped on or in things, getting into my food and water and god knows what else!! Basically, I was frustrated with my hair length but had yet to do anything about it as we had been so extremely busy. Right now, we had travelled the entire day until finally, Thorin announced that we would be stopping for the night before sending out orders to each of us: Kili, Fili and Bilbo were in charge of watching and tending to the horses - I wasn't too sure was a good idea after the whole troll incident. Gloin and Oin were sent to retrieve some fire wood with Bifur while Nori and Dori started to create a fire pit and light a fire. Bombur, with the assistance of Ori, began to prepare some food - bread, fruit and some meat that they had stored in a bag - so that it could be cooked once the fire was going. Balin and Dwalin left to retrieve some water from a river they could hear not too far away from where they had decided to set up camp. And Thorin stood by Gandalf as the wizard sat down, his pipe in hand as they spoke about who knows what. As for myself, I had been told to collect some of the apples from a tree that was just next to our campsite; it wasn't difficult as I was used to climbing up trees. But it could be a little bit tricky when you hair keeps falling in front of you sight!! Huffing out my annoyance, I finished collecting a few more apples until I had a bag full of sixteen apples - enough for the entire Company - before calling over for the leader; Thorin made his way over until he was stood just next to the trunk, looking up at me. I heard him chuckle "you haven't gone and got yourself stuck, have you??" he asked, seeming to tease me whilst a hint of seriousness was lased within his voice; I smirked as I held onto the branch that allowed me to keep my balance as I sat on another "I'm fine" I reassured before holding up the bag full of red apples "can you catch this?? I can't climb down with it" I asked politely. Once again, I could hear an amused chuckle from the dwarf as he held out his arms, ready for a sudden weight to fall into them "alright, drop it down" and with that, I simply did as told. Sighing with relief as the King easily caught the bag, I smiled as he told me to get down from the tree safely before walking away towards the camp. Just as I began to do just that, I felt a harsh tug on my hair force me to halt; I tried to move once more but stopped as soon as I felt the same slightly painful sensation. I moved my hand to the back of my head, feeling around until I found a chunk of my hair sticking out; I allowed my hand to follow the strands until it came into contact with the bark of the tree....my hair was tangled and trapped within the tree!!
"Oh my god" I mumbled under my breath as I went to rest my head in my hands, only to feel the nasty and painful tug again; I released a noise of irritation before taking a few deep, calming breaths. I needed to think about what I was going to do next. I couldn't untangle my hair from the bark of the tree as I couldn't see it and could possibly make it worse than it already was. I couldn't cut my hair as I had left my weapons with my bag which was on the ground. AKA, Thorin was right....I was stuck up the tree. I knew what needed to done but it would come at a price - my embarrassment and a little bit of my dignity. Sighing, I looked around the area we had claimed for our campsite, I tried to decide who I could call out to for help; I was disappointed to see that they were all busy with their jobs - at least those who I thought I could help and allow me to keep most of my embarrassment and dignity. While I knew each and every one of the members would gladly and happily help me, I didn't want to ask Kili, Fili or Bofur as I would never hear the end of it; there was only one person who wasn't busy and would hopefully be reasonable with his amusing comments. "Thorin!!" I called out after releasing one last sigh; I waited until the leader of the Company was once again stood under the tree, a raised brow as he was clearly confused as to why I was asking for him again.
