Shut up

On one hand, I wanted to beat him senseless on the other I was giddy as all get out, he tagged me in a post, he actually tagged me. That was a fan response, it was unavoidable. Why did he cause such a beautiful confliction in me? I wanted to see what he had done, but I turned off my phone. The constant notifications were annoying and pretty much immediate. The problem I had was that I was still actively a part of the fandom, both fandoms really. I had so much to tell him. My head was spinning when I finally reached the fire. My phone was still in my hand. He looked up at me sheepishly and grinned. He grinned. He didn't smile. That was different. He grinned like the Cheshire cat. He knew exactly what he had done. Which saved me a lot of trouble and changed the conversation I was having with myself in my head. I took several deep breaths before I opened my mouth. Jonna's lessons in communication and self-calming always came back to me. They helped.

"What did you do," I asked him quietly.

"I gave credit where credit was due." There was that grin again. His eyes were bright. I couldn't deny the feeling that gave me. He stood and took my hands. Slipping my phone from them and putting it in his pocket with his. "I couldn't not. I didn't take the photo I posted. You did. Besides, that girl posted a video of us and it's already gone crazy."

"But Avi. I am a part of the fandoms."

"Are you not a fan anymore since we are personally more?" His tone was soft and light. Avi was talking but I heard Jonna. I wanted to roll my eyes. 'Now I have two of them in my life.' I shrugged instead. I would be twice as good with two logical people loving me. He mistook my gesture. His face fell.

"Yes. I will always be your fan. I love music. I love your music." I placed my hand on his chest and hoped that helped. The effect was immediate. His face lit up.

"Then what does it matter? Does it matter? It's not like I didn't know that before anything ever happened between us. I knew. I've been following your Instagram for over a year now. Your facebook too."

I was stunned stupid. I didn't know he was following my Insta or facebook, just twitter. "I didn't know you were following those accounts. I never got a notification that you were."

"Honey, I have a verified Instagram. I can follow you anonymously. Anyone can do that on Facebook or they could. I think they changed that rule. But not before I followed you." I was still stunned stupid. So he kissed me to bring me about. "Okay. Look. There was nothing suggestive in what I posted. People are going to figure out that we were together from the video that was posted. I have already been made aware of it. People are going to talk. They always do. Sure they will talk a little more since I tagged you. But I'll post one of our selfies tomorrow and brag about meeting a talented musician and comment on how heartwarming it was to sit around the campfire and play and sing with you. If that is alright with you?"

"But I didn't get a chance to tell the group."

"Would you have told them?"

"Well, -- no."

"Then I did you a small favor. Now you don't have to lie to them. You don't have to lie to anyone. But please don't tell them the whole truth. So not ready for that yet."

"They are going to ask me questions about you."

"Stick to the basics. They don't need to know that I spent the week alone with you naked half the time. Besides if they know me at all and they know you, they won't ask you any personal questions about me."

"That's true."

He handed me his phone. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours." HE smiled at me like a 13-year-old boy just discovering girls that had said something he thought was cleverly perverted. He turned my phone back on. As soon as it came up and connected to my carrier's network it started going crazy in his hand. "Glad it was off in my pocket. That would have been a very different type of conversation." He covered the fire and grabbed my hand on his way to the tent. "C'mon. Let's go to bed."

"What if-"

"I don't care."

"But Avi, teenagers are so--"

"Do you want to sleep outside?"

"No." It was my tent. I gave him my most pitiful look ever. My phone was still buzzing every few seconds in his hand.

He laughed. "That look you're giving me, try it in the daylight. It will probably work better when I can see it's full effect. We better turn your notifications off, Baby." He laughed again and open our tent. "Ladies first, My Love."

I crawled into our tent and situated myself on my stomach. I held his phone in my hands. He crawled in and laid my phone in front of me. Then undressed. He looked over at me. "You have too many clothes on. Need help?" I just looked at him. The light from my phone, which I had picked up to look at, illuminated my face. I had 99+ Twitter notification and just as many Instagram. "Yes, I'm serious. Why should we do anything different, except maybe not be so noisy and leave the tent with our clothes on rather than off?" I couldn't stifle my laugh. I turned my phone towards him so he could see the screen. "Yup, better turn your notifications off." He nodded

"Why isn't yours going crazy," I asked him.

"Verified. I only get the ones I want. Here let me show you." He picked up his phone unlocked it and pulled up his account. He walked me through his DMs without opening them. He had four different tabs for DMs. Two of them were just like mine. The third was labeled Verified and the fourth, Followers. He opened the first one and let me see the names and groups in the list. I was very shocked to see my name and Jonna's name there. He grinned. "I always read them when I get them from you two. You can call or text me now though." I saw a few names I knew. He opened the second one and glanced at the growing list. He shook his head. Then he showed me the verified ones and finally the followers tab. There were a lot of names on that list I knew. It kept scrolling. He laughed. "I've really done it now. What does yours look like?" I showed him. "Figures." He laughed, looking at some of the names popping up in my DM's and the first couple of sentences. "Let's turn those notification off. You'll get the ones from the ones you have them on for, but you won't get the others unless you open your tab. Okay?" He gave me a quick Twitter lesson, switched to Instagram and educated me there too. Then turned off my phone and his and set them aside. I could no longer see his face. I could feel his breath upon my face and hear him move as he moved closer. He kissed me gently as he slipped under me. "You're wearing too many clothes, let's get you ready for bed." He kissed me again and his hands wandered to the hem of my shirt.

"That girl is tweeting about us."

"I know," he responded and kissed me again. "I don't care, nor should you."

"She's gonna tell people we slept--"

"Shut up and get naked with me." He kissed me silent.
