Cover Contest - Uncovered Illusion

This might be a mistake. This might not be a mistake. But we will see.

Okay I'm not writing a fucking story here I might as well get to the point.

Welcome wonders, to the first cover contest I have ever done. It might not end up working out, it might be the last, or it might be a lot of fun. We will have to find out. I figured it doesn't do harm to see what the response is to shit like this and whether anyone will actually take part.

Here's my issue.

I'm shit at making covers and I know that the best way to get the wonders involved is by creating this contest so that I get to know your talents better and also have a lot of fun with it. So when I started writing something that should be kinda exciting for y'all (or not it's up to you) I realised that there was a little something I could do. A contest.

This contest has a few basic rules, with which to explore whatever creative licence you wanna take. I do not mind how you read this and how you edit it. But obviously you need some context to spark those beautifully creative minds of yours.

Okay. Let's see....what rules can I make which don't restrict anything too much, before I go into the aesthetic I'm after?

1: The cover should take inspiration from the aesthetic and ideas I mention later on.

2: The cover can't be NSFW. I'm not saying any of you would decide to do it like that, but here's my desperate plea that you don't create it like that.

3: The cover should be created within the next two or three weeks ish? And you can send it either through giving me a link on pm using Google or sending it to me on Tumblr (my username is the same as on here and my account looks pretty much the same lol so that's not too hard to find hopefully!!)

edit: due date for these will be the 1st of June. However, if you enter it on the 2nd or 3rd I'm probably not gonna just be like 'nah not within the limit' because I know y'all have stressful lives too?? That's nearly 3 weeks so hopefully that's enough time.

Hopefully those are fair rules? I don't really know what I'm doing??? 

The book that needs to have a cover is from a series that some of you might be familiar with. The Lie Detector series currently has two books, and the second is about six parts away from being done. The third is on the way - this is the book needing a cover. 

Okay. Here are the basic concept ideas I'd like to have included, and the important information. Hopefully it all makes sense once I've explained it, but we'll see. You can edit photos, draw stuff, whatever you wanna do. It's entirely up to you how you decide to take the concept I'm going for. 

~The basic colour scheme should be mainly dark/monochrome/faded in some way - have a look at the first two books to see what I mean. 

~I would prefer for both halves of Taekook to be on the cover, if at all possible, but don't worry if doesn't fit what you wanna do. I won't be like 'oh this is perfect but it's only Kookie or Jimin' because it's not that vital. 

~The title should be on the cover somewhere - 'Uncovered Illusion', and if it's not too arrogant to ask, the phrase 'story by hooverssweaterpaws' or something like that could be there too??? In tiny font in the background?? I dunno. 

~Here's an interesting one for you. Have something snake-related in the cover. Scales, snake eyes, maybe the coils of a snake, I don't mind. But if possible, the snake parts could be tinted with more colour - my mind says green but take it wherever you wanna. Whatever your mind takes you, I don't mind as long as it relates to these ideas. 

~ and finally an optional thing, as an added challenge if you wanna take it. Try and include the metaphorical concept of a puppeteer controlling his puppets with strings...or however puppeteers control puppets these days. I don't know. Up to you. Take it where you want. Remember that this is optional so if it doesn't work for you, don't worry. 

I hope these ideas aren't too difficult or restricting, and hopefully some of you have come up with some cool ideas of how to explore them and create some really amazing pieces of art. I already know I'm gonna hate myself for picking between all of them but the reason I'm doing this is because I can't do visual art or photo editing or whatever else you wanna use, and I wanna get the wonders involved with something cool. Of course I'll credit and announce the winner, because that's only fair. 

Should I also do runner's up - like a third second first format - or would that be too complicated?
