Hey wonders! This is what you've been waiting for! The reveal of the winner of the cover contest. But instead of just showing you the winning entry, as some authors like to do, I'm going to share with you every single entry we got (except for one which was like a second version of another entry, by the same person. I counted them as two entries, but I figured that as the version shown here is my favourite, and it fits much better with what I asked for, it would be okay to just explain the difference when we get to it). I've also tagged every single person underneath their own creation.
Why am I doing it like this?
Simple, really. To showcase the talent of the people I'm lucky enough to have among those who read my books. You're all talented in some way, and for these individuals their talent is apparently creating amazing book covers that are difficult to rank. I'm also not going to give these in some fancy order of 'most to least liked' because that's not really necessary. I like all of the covers equally - no, I love them. As a result, I've had to make my decision based on what fits the story the most, and what works with the concept I've got envisioned within that third book the most.
Honestly, they're in alphabetical order because that's how I saved them into my laptop - as usernames so that I would get each one right. Is that offensive or organised...........hopefully it's more organised than offensive?
I wanna say real quick - my decision is not based on how much I like the person, or anything like that. I've not thought to myself 'ooo I like this person more than others so they win'. I've not done a JJ, for those who will get the reference. All of you are beautiful people, and I do care about you, of course, but what I'm trying to say is that it was based purely on what fits best, based on the art and based on the story. Not on anything else.
Does that make sense? I feel like that makes sense? If it doesn't make sense, let me know.
But I plan on just clarifying with each cover what my favourite things about it are, and point out the stuff I find cool. I'm not gonna criticise anyone, even constructively, because I don't really want to and also I have no idea how to edit or create things like this so it wouldn't be a very confident or expert opinion.
Hopefully that all makes sense.
@art3mishunter entered this cover. This is the cover that had two versions, and essentially the other version was without the snake? And the actual picture was slightly sharper? But I actually prefer this one because it has the snake element in it - obviously - and the slightly faded quality of it actually really fits the aesthetic I was after. I love how the snake is almost like an overlay on the picture, and there's something almost mysterious about it, which is equally as awesome. The positioning of the snake is also really cool, and the colour effects used to make it just a little bit green give off the disturbing vibe I was after.
Tis awesome, basically.
