"Woah." I said, as I closed my eyes for a bit longer than a blink. "So those were Grady's thoughts I was hearing?" "Yes, and I am a bit surprised your mind went straight to Grady, I remember when I first manifested my mind went straight to my own fathers, but Grady is not your genetic father." Alden said.
"Ok..." I wasn't really sure what I was gonna say after that, but then I said, "so now I only have two more abilities to manifest." "It appears so." I jumped a little. I hadn't noticed that Mr. Forkle was still here.
"Kelly, why don't you try to get past my blocking?" Alden asked, his eyes full of wonder. "I'll try." I said, then tried to reach out to his mind. I pushed past each of invisible barrier, each one a little worse, but the fifth one was huge.
I tried pushing it, I tried breaking it, I tried going around it, but it seemed to stretch on forever. But suddenly I had an idea, one that Sophie had never tried.
I let my consciousness float up until I was at the height of Alden's mind. Then tried pushing it over at the top, since the top is the weakest point of a wall. When I tried it up there, it still took more mental energy then all the other walls, but I made it, and suddenly I could here the cold rush of thoughts.
"I DID IT!" I yelled, exiting his mind. Everyone clapped. "Now, you remember the rules of telepathy, correct?" Grady questioned. "Yep." I answered, still feeling all bubbly inside.
"Well, like I said, I must get going now. I will see you all soon for an update." With that, Mr. Forkle turned back toward the door and left, leaving just me, Grady, Edaline, Alden, Robin, Callan, and Ryan.
"I must get going as well, but Callan, you are welcome to stay if Grady and Edaline are fine with it." Alden said, also heading for the door. "I'll stay." He said, looking to my adopted parents for reassurance.
They nodded, so Robin said, "I might as well stay to." So we all went upstairs to my room. Once we got up there, I climbed onto my bunk bed and said, "that was weird." "Yep, definitely." Robin confirmed.
"So what now?" Callan answered, "I guess let's go over what we learned, we're all gonna have two abilities, excluding teleportation, and excluding Kelly, cause she's gonna have three." "Uh huh, sounds right."
"So now I guess let's try to figure out what to do now, because we know that the adults aren't gonna involve us, cause apparently we're "to young". Callan made a funny face and made his voice lower when he said, "to young".
We all laughed. "I guess yeah, but what can we actually do? I mean like, we don't have any real resources, no actual leads, and none of us have super crazy powers, except maybe Kelly, we're not sure yet." Ryan told us, going to sit on the couch under the bunk, to the right of the desk, which Callan sat in the chair of.
"Hey, where do I sit?" Robin exclaimed. We all laughed again. "There's a chair in my closet," I jumped off the bed and walked the ten feet to my closet. Robin followed, and when she got in, I already had the chair by the time she came in, but she still said, "Woah, this isn't a closet, this is a room the size of your old bedroom filled with clothes!"
"Well, my old bedroom was small." I said, because it was. It was literally half the size of Mia's old bedroom, and her room was a normal sized bedroom. But hey, it was either get a small room or share a room with my sister.
Once I got back out Callan had stole the bunk. "Hey, off." I said, crossing my arms, and starting climbing up the ladder. But he was blocking the top of the ladder. "Nope, mine." He responded.
Before he could think, I tackled him and jumped on the bed. My foot hit the last step of the wooden ladder, but not that hard, so I was fine. "So, Callan you can sleep in my room." Ryan said, motioning to the door. "K" Callan replied, walking out the door, with Ryan close behind.
When they were gone, I turned to Robin. "So" I said. "What do you want to do?" She just sat there for a bit, with a lost expression on her face. "We could spy on the boys." She said, with a smile on her face. "I don't know, they'll probably catch us." I commented. Robin looked confused.
"Are you serious?" She asked. "OF COURSE NOT!" I replied, laughing so hard I almost fell of the bed. We both knew that the boys would probably not catch us, unless we let them.
"Wait, I have an idea!" I said, putting my brain to use. "Let's set up a FaceTime with our phones, then put your phone it Ryan's room, but first turn the sound off on it, so that they can't hear us, but we can hear them."
We set up the FaceTime, and I walked into Ryan's room, with Robin's phone behind my back. I didn't really have much planned, but I could pull this off. "Hey guys." I said. "Edaline wants to know if you want custard bursts or Mallowmelt for breakfast tomorrow." I asked. "Um," Ryan said. "I want Mallowmelt." "Me too" Callan agreed.
As I was walking out, I stopped to look the pictures of Ryan's dog on his alchemy table. I took the phone and I hid it behind the picture, but the camera was still showing. This is going to be so fun! I thought, waking out of the room.
Once I got back up to my room, Robin was already on the couch watching the boys. "I heard everything." She said with a smile. "Nice bluffing." "Thanks, but let's screen record so that we can hear everything." I replied.
When I was done turning on the recording, I looked at the FaceTime, and Ryan was showing Callan some of the gadgets he made. I placed the phone back on the desk, and we both kept watching from the couch.
It was all mostly boring stuff, like gadgets and alchemy. But then it hit me. Ryan was a Technopath, so couldn't he sense when there was gadgets in the room? A wave of worry hit me, but I decided to brush it off.
More boring stuff, but then they actually got to something good, something that I needed to know, something that makes me really glad I thought of this camera.
I heard Ryan say through the camera, "Ok, so I just checked to see if the girls are listening, but I guess they aren't, so basically, I might have a lead on where Sophie, Biana, Fitz and Keefe are being kept."
