The Dream In A Poem

He came to me, knocking at my door
Silently, I stood to open..

My smile did fade at whom I beheld,
A radiant young man, and yet,
He was dressed in black..

And so my heart sank, for I knew who he was.

By instinct, I tried to retrace my steps,
As a prey does, if he walked into the lion's den unawares..

Instead I moved against my will, to stand by his side.

Hear Ye, who follows his heart, and take counsel..
For against death, the self has no choice!

Glad tidings for you, do not fear,
You're a Jannatii - so shall he say
If you were of the Muttaqîn unto that day.

~So Once Upon a Dream when I~ beheld Azra'il, THE ANGEL OF DEATH

In shaa Allah when death approaches us, we would be pleased to meet Azra'il, this time in real life, not just in a dream.
